100% correct. Not interested.

How do we balance that with our need to pick up some skilled guys who can put the puck in the net? Whitelaw is one of those guys.

I hope UND’s #1 priority from the portal is Colin Ralph, followed by a goaltender. Work backwards.

Sorry if this was said, but UND’s #1 priority is finding centers and it’s not even close. We are sitting decent on the back end but we badly need forwards, especially up the middle

I wonder if the NCAA will ever get a handle on this portal / NIL nonsense.
Like a one-time portal entry per player, and then any other time they need to sit for a year.
And a cap on NIL.  Hockey is a few years behind football/basketball, but it's only a matter of time before it gets really bad.

There should be a cap on number of transfers.

With courts now days you don’t need to be responsible for or to anyone so I suppose it will be unlimited transfers

Agreed. And UND as guilty of this as any other school over last few years.

No doubt, but it has now gotten to the point if you don’t follow suit, you get left behind.  So basically the NCAA talking about sportsmanship is a joke because they have created an atmosphere where it is impossible to practice it without ruining your chance to be competitive.

The only hope is that the major football and basketball figure out a reasonable way to get a handle on it.. I wont hold my breath

Christian Humphreys (Michigan & Kitchener Rangers, Colorado 2024 7th rounder) & Noah Powell (Ohio State, Oshawa Generals, Philadelphia 2024 5th rounder) have their names officially entered in the portal, so their plan is to come back to the NCAA it appears. Both should be considered, but unsure if they'd wanna go west in the direction of UND.

If I wanted to do a controlled demolition of college sports, I would institute practices & financial options without any limitations; all the while cheapening its original meaning.

Unlimited Portal & NIL. At this rate, it wouldn't surprise me if at some point the NCAA will institute Feb 1 trade deadlines, where hockey schools with playoff aspirations can add players from other teams whom they think will get them their next title. Or, not requiring any academic participation in the schools that athletes attend. May sound far-fetched to many, but most would have also laughed at NIL & the portal concept just 10 years ago.

You remove the checks & balances for college sports in a money-driven, morally-challenged society and you get something you may not have wished for. Slippery slope.

Specific incident, or known locker room cancer?

Just very me first type of guy. Doesn’t surprise me that he’s been with two programs in two years soon to be three.

He'll be back in the NCAA for his 20 year old season or maybe after his overage junior season and comes in for his 21 year old season.
