Its February, which means the league race is heating up.  UND should've swept SCSU, and CC got 2 points via an OT win against an extremely hot Western Michigan team, without Mbereko in the net.  Fun fact, CC's last two wins have come with Carsen Musser in the net, but only I and CC insider @Godsmack knew that.

We sit in 4th place at 25 points, they sit at 6th with 21, but they have played two more contests than we have.

Both teams currently with goaltending dilemmas.  Ours is pretty simple, play Hobie.  Mbereko has shown to be more human this year, but as our CC insider pointed out in a different thread, CC needs to get Musser in the net more as Mbereko will likely move on after this year and they like to develop goalies instead of portal them in apparently (weak).  I'm a betting man and expect Mbereko on Friday.

For sanity purposes, the pairwise will not be mentioned at this time.  Just know that the Beaver weekend, even with that nonconference shootout win hurt a little bit.

The prediction:

CC wins Friday.  UND Saturday.

I see Denver passing us at some point obviously, but sights need to be set on staying within reach of Omaha.  Our four road games remaining are brutal....

Gotta have 4+ this weekend.

We need to play way better in our own end , the d coverage is not good. We played a team that can’t score last weekend , CC can score.

CC has been held to 1 or 2 goals in regulation 17 times, and St. Cloud 14 times.  I would say neither are ripping it up.

CC has played 26 games. Laba was hurt and has only played in 21 of them but leads the team in points. And Zach Wisdom had a 2 goal game last night and if memory serves, he totally lit it up against UND last season in their series at Robson.

I am afraid we might have a repeat of last season.

This just has split written all over it.  Hopefully UND'S win comes in regulation.

He and Laba were ridiculous at CC last year.  A bit foreshadowing for UND last year.

I’m hoping Berry doesn’t go into “nice guy mode” by playing Monty just because his brother plays for CC. It’s a nice story but winning is nicer.

We took 5/6 points on the road with Croal in the lineup. He had 4th-line ice time but we took care of business with that lineup and that 4th line got a goal Saturday and were on the ice to set up Macdonald’s 1st period goal. Croal was on the PK and we killed 7/8 penalties on the weekend.

if Jammer is good to go or allowed to go, put him back in and take Andrew out. Not sure who they would label the extra skater (I’d choose Kunz but that’ll never happen) but with a full lineup of healthy bodies we might as well play the best players.

Mac taking on his dad's alma mater:

"I feel like I'm so far removed from my college days," Brian said. "Obviously, I want North Dakota to win and have success for the team. I can cheer for my old college other days, but this weekend is definitely about North Dakota. Hopefully, they can get some wins here."

Mac visited Colorado College during the recruiting process.

"There was a little consideration," he said. "But once I visited here, I knew there was not really another choice."

I remember watching Mac’s dad back in the day. CC had some great teams starting in the mid-90’s. Unfortunately for them, they ran into a loaded Michigan squad in 96 and a UND team that could not be denied in 97. I remember the hype one year in a series between UND and CC at the Cadet Ice Arena where the Jason Blake/Brian Swanson rivalry was the headline. Fun memories going to those old CC games at the old Broadmoor World Arena, then for a few years at Air Force Academy, and then finally at the then new World Arena.

Another fond memory of mine from back in the day was watching the 1997 UND/CC Frozen Four semifinal game at the CC student union with my girlfriend and a bunch of her friends and a huge room full of CC students. I think we beat them handily like, 6-2 or something. I was the only UND fan there (obviously) but everyone was cool about it as I tried not to be “that” guy. Still, it was fun watching UND and CC square off in the FF.

And yet another trip down memory lane, circa 2010 or so. A delayed penalty was being called on CC. So UND pulled the goalie for an extra attacker. Both UND defensemen skated off on a line change as Jason Gregoire if memory serves, made a no look pass backwards from center ice to what he thought was one of his D men. Unfortunately, there was nobody home and the puck drifted casually down the ice and into our own wide open net. I think CC whipped us pretty good that evening like, 7-3 or something. Scott Owens was quoted as saying in all his years playing and coaching, he’d never seen a goal scored liked that.

Yah me too! I was sitting up in the corner above where UND skated out onto the ice. Watching the puck sail down harmlessly and hearing the entire arena go nuts as it got closer to the net. Nothing went right for UND that evening!

I also remember a series at World Arena where Parise & Co., jumped out to a 3-0 lead after the first period and I was such a peacock thinking, “we got this in the bag!” only to watch CC come back with 5 unanswered goals! Lol. Taught me a lesson in humility. The game isn’t over until it’s over.

You all remember the Darcy Zajac overtime winner at the Ralph over CC? I feel like that was a matinee game on a Saturday or Sunday afternoon? Maybe someone can confirm that. Brad Malone with a low shot on thr CC goalie and Zajac with the rebound.
