UND @ SCSU -- Hawks v Huskies

UND will have another week to stew over their horrendous weekend against WMU.
SCSU is in a big slump, losing 7 of their last 8 (including being swept by UND), with their only win against St Thomas in that span.

SCSU plays UNO this weekend while UND has the bye.
SCSU will still be without their stud goalie for the UND series, but they got good goaltending in their series at the Ralph.
Potentially still some bad blood between the programs after Berry and Larson were yelling at each other and had to be separated after the Sat game during handshakes.

Hopefully the team can get some quality practices in and analysis all the multiple glaring issues after the series against WMU.
SCSU is in 8th place currently...let's keep them near the bottom and get some points to keep us in the top 4.

Wouldn't it be a treat to see Kunz not in the lineup.  Guessing he's top 6 next Friday.

Yeah he’s on a bit of a rough patch lately. I’ve seen more out of Croal & Littler in their limited action. They could have Kunz be extra skater and have him be net front presence on PP2.

Seriously? I thought he and Livanavage have been the best defenseman all year. Defense is not really the problem--it is the forwards and goaltending.

i think his net front pressence is absolutley trash on defense..just lost..cant decide who he should cover,more times than not

Only one point (an assist) since the Miami series. Then the penalty on Friday night while on the PP that could have cost the team the game. He’s been struggling lately for sure.

This series could very well be a make or break scenario.   If they get beat after being off a week and look horrible doing it, they could lose the team, and who knows what the fallout from that would be.  I don't want to be hearing "we had to shake off the rust, and we came out a bit slow".  After the interaction between Larsen and Berry here, you know there should be a lot of motivation, it's just what coach do you think can capitalize on that motivation.

Yep.  As much as some changes are needed, I'd be ok with them winning out.

That pretty much sums up the season.  He has 9 points overall in 23 games, and is tied for second in goals....

In many respects, this season was over before it even began, if you use the Augustana game as a barometer for how the upcoming season would be. The lack of passion, basic skills & teamwork that were seen Oct 5th were also seen on Jan 18th: no measurable progress. It wasn't until Friday night against Cornell when it became evident to me that this year was going to be a clown show on steroids.

The hockey program may have to sputter into oblivion these last 2 months for there to be any hope of a HC change. Short-term the program takes a hit, but UND cannot afford to continue on this mediocre path for the next 4-5 years. The only constant in life is change. 

Anyway, there are 12 games left, & I think UND would have to win a minimum of 10 of those games (plus rely on some wins by Cornell, BSU, etc) to just barely get an at-large. So that ain't happening. That leaves the conference tourney, playing against other hungry teams who are also trying to get an autobid or are jockeying for higher seeds. That's also highly unlikely, unless every opponent UND faces during the conference playoffs is decimated by the flu & injuries; & even then it would be a stretch considering this team's (lack of) performance this year.

In all seriousness, I see UND realistically going 4-8 in those final 12 games.
I'd say finishing below .500 with the roster that we have is enough to make some changes with the coaching staff at the end of the season.

22 should be on 4th line, Soft player and absolutely no grit.  He should have to prove himself.    Wilkie and Swanson should be on line together.

I've been a Sioux Hockey fan for a long long time - thru many ups and downs - and we certainly have had some frustrations - but this is probably the first time I can refer to our hockey team as "soft" - this for me is the ultimate let-down.  We used to mock the Gophers win or lose for being soft and now that is us.  Changes need to be made.
