Popular Post Blackheart Posted yesterday at 04:37 PM Popular Post Posted yesterday at 04:37 PM Berry is a UND guy through and through. He bleeds just as green as all the “experts” on this site. I feel bad for him if this is the end because he’s a hell of a guy…always takes time for the fans and acknowledges the road crowds when they are traveling. For whatever reason the team really wasn’t playing like the season was on the line last night and as head coach some of that is on him. Most people are reasonable enough to realize UND is not going to win every game, but the effort and energy have to be there every night. Hope they can go on a little run here so they have something to play for down the stretch. 6 Quote
SIOUXELEVENS Posted yesterday at 04:40 PM Posted yesterday at 04:40 PM Why wait until we lose players? These players all have talent but for some reason they are not playing well, giving 100% etc. the coaching staff is responsible for putting a team together and style they play and it’s not happening. At times it seems Berry and his staff throw the sticks in the middle and make lineups. Too far into the season for having a different line up every week, how do they get better when everything changes week to week. UND is now the school where good players come to play worse. Mac Swanson player of the year in the USHL and almost buried in Berrys line up for most of the year. Berry is the ultimate players coach but not the coach who gets the most from his team. Time for Berry and his staff to ride into the sunset and give someone else a chance to take this team back to playing Sioux hockey. 1 Quote

Nobody expects us to win every game but the effort needs to be there and right now it seems like this team has checked out. 4 Quote

It literally amazes me how often we miss the net even when we have great opportunities. Either that or it seems we shoot the puck 2 - 3 feet high right at the goalie. 1 Quote

Heard nothing but rumor and speculation that he wouldn’t mind another crack at it. Might be wishful thinking passed on as a possibility. Yeah, it wouldn’t be a long term thing, but I think it would be good to at least move our culture back in the right direction. Yes, purely speculation and rumor, but this is a message board. Regardless, could use an heir apparent that would bring that culture. Lot of young talented coaches out there as well. Will take a lot to turn around this season, and things could really go south if the leadership in the locker room can’t hold things together. At least we haven’t seen the likes of that during Berry’s tenure, but let’s face it, UND aspires to much more than being average and an afterthought on the National scene. Kinda like the Les Steckl one season debacle for the Vikes so they brought Bud Grant back out of retirement I think just to right the ship for one season. Quote
SIOUXELEVENS Posted yesterday at 04:53 PM Posted yesterday at 04:53 PM #culture , Berry needs to realize what he and his staff are doing to the culture, time to step down. 1 Quote

Wilbur Posted yesterday at 05:49 PM Author Posted yesterday at 05:49 PM Even Steve "Keyboard Warriors" Oly Olson is being harsh on Twitter towards the team. Hopefully Mike Lamoine or Looker or whoever is the road radio color analyst has a two minute rant for the public about this not being okay the next game. #ferdaoxbow 1 Quote
Popular Post hockeytherapy13 Posted yesterday at 06:16 PM Popular Post Posted yesterday at 06:16 PM Even Schloss was critical of the team in his gamer (as much as a newspaper writer can be). He noted the team “fell apart” over the course of 48 hours, referred to them as “listless”, and said they have a “long list of things to contemplate about the season”. He also mentioned how poor the PK has been. I know that’s not as harsh as some people on here would like him to be but he does have to maintain a certain level of diplomacy. Either way it was nice to see him call a spade a spade. 6 Quote

Oxbow6 Posted yesterday at 06:27 PM Posted yesterday at 06:27 PM I get there has to be a "culture" to succeed but when you kick two guys to the curb who are now wearing letters for different teams within the NCHC it's tough to wrap your head around what culture UND is shooting for. Quote
TheFlop Posted yesterday at 06:38 PM Posted yesterday at 06:38 PM Honestly I think with recruiting the overall talent level is down too. On a good Sioux team, a guy like Jamernik is a 4th line rotational player.....like he was when he first came in. Guys like Schmaltz and Mcclaughlin wouldn't be guaranteed playing every game on stronger sioux teams either. 1 Quote
SIOUXELEVENS Posted yesterday at 06:39 PM Posted yesterday at 06:39 PM Constantini would be a 4th line player or extra under Berry 1 Quote

Suffice it to say, that when you turn over your whole defensive group from a couple years ago to try and start fresh, then we’re right back in a poor situation a couple years later, when teams like Western have turned over most of their roster during the same period and are thriving, you have a problem. Your leaders like Jamernik and Strinden aren’t exactly leading by example either. I expect those type guys to go through a wall for the program, and you don’t see that extra effort you would expect from them. We’ll see if a few weeks dwelling on this will turn their attention to the next series in St. Cloud, because I know Larsen will have St. Cloud ready. If UND lays an egg, the heat will really be turned up. Quote
