fightingsioux4life Posted November 19 Posted November 19 We should focus on getting this program back into contention for Nattys, not scheduling more of these "destination games". What good are these games if we continue to lose them? 3 Quote

Essentially just a boost to the destination city economy with the swarm of UND fans. But yeah, not very exciting to go to them with how the team has played recently in them. Quote

What good are these games if we continue to lose them? It is kind of a buzzkill for the weekend. When you are talking 225 bucks for the event, I am thinking if you want a friends trip, pay that money and golf Bandon Dunes or some destination golf course and then, other than some bad golf, you don't have something to drag down your friends trip. Kind of a pessimistic look at things, but I just remember the last few have had that buzzkill that made the trip home less than enjoyable. 1 Quote

Based on the amount of people that show up and what they are able to charge for tickets, I'd say people are speaking with their wallets and want the REA and athletic department to continue with them. Not hard to do the math on what they will net top line for this game. Not to mention the UND supporters across the US they are able to get to one spot to connect with. 1 Quote

Well, I won't be spending a dime on traveling all that distance for a non-postseason game. Quote
dustnyou Posted November 19 Posted November 19 Destination games are a great recruiting point. To tell a recruit they will play in Vegas or Madison Square Garden, etc. that’s a plus. There’s also prob some 14 yr old stud hockey player from the area that will go to the game with his pops. Fall in love with UND and choose them over others as a 4.5 star recruit because he watched them in Austin two years ago…. 4 Quote

Not anymore 4.5 star recruit will get more then free car washes for a year at a big ten school 1 Quote

B10 schools ain’t winning nattys. We need to stop worrying what other schools do and get the right players and playing the ones you recruit. Instead of relying on portal transfers for important positions, trust your recruiting and get them to play hockey at 110% every game. 3 Quote

Just because it isn't your cup of tea (and that's fine) doesn't mean it still won't be wildly successful for the hockey program. But that's a weird reason to criticize it. Until the idea runs out of steam, they will keep happening. Quote

Hey Notre Dame fans, travel to Ireland for this game, and then wear a crappy sweatshirt to the game. Don't pack your ND jerseys. Quote

SIOUXELEVENS Posted November 20 Posted November 20 Maybe the destination game should be the frozen four , different jerseys , destination games all gimmicks , just focus on winning when it counts. Quote
