A credit to you and the coaches in Jamestown for the Jays playing the game the right way. That's something that is a culture that is instilled in the youth levels. I enjoyed watching them this year. They'll never have the most talent, but those kids will battle for each other. 1 Quote

sioux rube Posted Sunday at 05:03 AM Posted Sunday at 05:03 AM I'll be there for state. No Jays unfortunately but I just love state tourneys. Bantam A state is there too but unfortunately my team lost to Bismarck 4-3 in our play in game Quote
Johnny Five Posted Sunday at 06:25 AM Posted Sunday at 06:25 AM 2025 Girls State Tournament: FSN v Davies: North swept the season series 3-2 and 3-0. Suppes from Davies in the pipes will have to keep them in it. Mandan v Legacy-Bismarck: Season series split. 4-1 for Mandan game 1 of the year and 3-1 for LB. 3rd year in a row these 2 meet game 1. GF v WFU: GF swept 4-2 and 4-1. Pat Johnson is out, will WFU band together? WFU has a goalie that can keep them in it. CHS v Minot: Minot 5-4 (OT), CHS 6-5. Minot blew a 5-1 3rd period lead game 2. Can Minot shut down Vig and Matt? This tournament is going to be really good. 3/4 1st round matchups are literal toss ups. FSN still the favorite as 3x defending champs and Fischer at Defense. Going into the season I thought there'd be 4-5 good teams and a drop...I was wrong. For girls hockey fans, it's been a fantastic season. 1 Quote
Johnny Five Posted Sunday at 06:45 AM Posted Sunday at 06:45 AM Also...since it's late, why the hell not and fresh off the Minot WDA championship for the 1st time in an embarrassing 19 years: Minot is now pulling the cord on adding Minot North for the 2025-2026 season. The excuse meter started thumping out various reasons, but the most laughable one was parents indicating they will remain with the JR Gold program. Since Minot has been a wagon who could cut talented kids and still not win a WDA championship in nearly 20 years, there's been an infatuation with the "fun" of not competing for a HS spot and playing Junior Gold. Kids and parents simply satisfied with JR Gold and not even attempting tryouts. Minot North hockey was announced a month or 2 ago. ADs had started planning and scheduling games. Now the Minot main AD sends out a letter "retracting" Minot North hockey for lack of numbers and the safety of the kids. As a parent who dealt with it on the girls and boys side in Bismarck....WF has done it fairly recently with Sheyenne and WF....figure it out, Minot. Do we want to compete and "win"? Sure....We also want to grow the sport and create opportunities for kids who are getting the door slammed in their face. Here's a Facebook post from what appears to be a parent, with a letter from the Minot AD attached, and over 100 comments: https://www.facebook.com/share/p/18npUXWf2y/ Quote

Then I was told a year or two later that they ended the team. Quote

The Minot Goalie Keller kid was 22-0 with a GAA of 1.42 .... arguably hes the best goalie in the state and its not really all that close and he doesn't even get all conference in the WDA? .... Quote

Move up and down depending on where they can succeed the most instead of challenging their players. Ridiculous 1 Quote

I thought this as well. When I played Nate Ziegelman was a dude. Best player in the state, yes on a loaded team. Thankfully the decision makers got that one right. Lot of people pissed because he didn't see a ton of rubber, like 12 shots a game. Didn't mean he wasn't the best player. Keller likely gone either way. Impressive season for the young man. Quote

My youngest son is friends with quite a few of the kids on the hockey team. Nobody on the team could believe Keller was omitted from the all WDA team. Quote
