Next year UND is the host for the Frozen Four in Vegas, pretty sure they won't be playing as the host school either.

You nailed it. Schlossman did a good piece on the subject oh, 6-9 months ago. One of the biggest advocates of going to a higher seed home site set up is Denver’s David Carle. He was one of those interviewed for the article. He even said, he could sit back on his hands and say nothing because DU’s proven they can be successful under the current format so to me, that carries a lot of credibility with me when he’s a proponent of change. The small schools, however, feel it would be too big of a disadvantage to have to play in a packed barn of a bigger program. Short sighted IMO.
 

Yah, the smaller schools have knocked off a higher ranked team from time to time but overall, it’s not like they’re having massive success under the current format of playing in three quarters empty dead arenas either. Plus, if I’m a player at a smaller school, I think I’d rather play under the bright lights of a big time program in front of a packed house and love the opportunity to silence the home crowd with an upset victory.

You just gave Schlossman an article idea to show how really tough it was for UND, because he has already done his obligatory, but we were really young and will be really good next year if everybody stays, only this year everybody staying is not a given.

Don’t know much about this years Minnesota team, I have not seen them play.  This is largely due to them never being on regular TV like they used to be.  B10 network is  a joke when it comes to hockey coverage and I’m certainly not purchasing the stream to watch the gophers let alone anyone other team in that league.  I think WMU n gophers will meet with WMU wining - they are for real.

With our Xfinity package, wouldn’t you know we get the ACC Network and the SEC Network but not the Big Ten channel.

Gophers have a lot of talent but haven't had the clutch gene much of this year. In a hypothetical Western Michigan Minnesota matchup, Slukynsky outduels Souliere & Bump should produce well. Been pretty underwhelmed by Oliver Moore and it's not like Matthew Wood has really popped off for the Gophers, probably just met the baseline production expectations.

Huglen being out really hurts Minnesota as well.

But remember when Denver was ousted in the first round of the playoffs but used the time off to rest and get ready for their next game, and winning the National Championship. We’ve seen how motivating it can be to sit for a couple weeks coming off a loss.  Really it can go both ways, but if they use the first game to shake off the rust, they could be the better rested team for the regional final.

Why it was bad it enough the western class b schools drove through Minot and Bismarck to play each other in boys basketball in fargo. Hockey belongs at the Ralph. The grand forks schools shouldn’t have to leave home to play each other.

Denver and the Springs too. My buddies up there talk about what a dump Colorado Springs is and I can cite a hundred reasons why I’d never, ever live in Denver.
