In surprised how bad this team is especially in their own zone. Lots of firsts under Berry and not many of them good. Time to reboot and change the operating system on the machine called UND hockey. When students and opposing teams ask how can we be this bad it’s time.

Because if you take players from the portal and don’t play them no one will transfer in. Schmaltz is a great D foward and face off guy but not a top six guy. Iis laughable how this coaching staff puts lines together and just rolls four lines no matter what.

Hak was master of the second half surge, Berry is master of the season long swoon.

There’s no need for concern yet.  Brad will have this team all fired up for the Frozen Faceoff like he always does.

What maybe bothers me more than anything is consistently how guys that transfer in are immediately one of Berry’s boys. What I mean is the handful of guys every year whose role is not based on ability.

Wilkie might be, besides Montgomery the worst forward on the team. He’s a fixture as 3C, PK, PP. He’s a bad hockey player. Based on everything we’ve watched, why wouldn’t you upgrade Littler to Wilkie’s spot? Move Croal in and Wilkie out. From what I’ve seen, Croal is better than Wilkie as well.

It’s frustrating watching time and time, transfers come in that aren’t very good and play instead of (or bigger roles) then promising freshman.

Thank you!

Will they be working as part of the ice maintenance crew?

Nah, but I bet they'll have really good seats for the games.

They should be playing like this in February!

If these players attempted to do this the puck would end up in the fifth row behind the glass.  Can't say I have ever seen a team miss the net as much as they do outside of termites and mites.

So now the Pairwise ratings are showing UND with a 100% probability of making the NCAA tournament (on the PW mobile app). What's up with that? Computing error? Carryover from last season? Heartless prank?

Important update: the online version shows UND's tournament probability at 4%. Now we're talking!

I think Berry has this team right where he wants them.  I remember prior to the start of the season Berry talked about how they want to not peak too early and look past the Penrose. He know what he's doing.

The good thing for UND in the probability that they will need to win the Frozen Faceoff to get a tournament birth is that none of the teams in the league are in the "can't lose" category.   Western has been impressive, but other than Bump aren't loaded.   The problem for UND is that they have lacked the consistency to go on a long run.  Get home ice and a first round victory, and who knows if they will even have to face the team with the most talent in Denver.  This weekend is the first step in keeping home ice alive.

The NCHC has a nonconference winning percentage of .586. It is the league's worst since its inaugural season of 2013-14, when it posted a .533 winning percentage.

The Big Ten has a .743 nonconference winning percentage — the best mark any conference has posted since college hockey's major realignment in 2013. Hockey East has a .715 nonconference winning percentage.

It's why you see oddities in the Pairwise Rankings this season.

Omaha is in second place in the NCHC right now, 9-2-1 since Christmas. Yet it is buried at No. 27 in the Pairwise.
By contrast, New Hampshire is in dead last in Hockey East, 1-8 in the last nine games. Yet the Wildcats are No. 18 in the Pairwise and within striking distance of an NCAA spot.
Penn State is in second-to-last in the Big Ten with a 5-10-3 league record. Yet the Nittany Lions are No. 16 in the Pairwise, also within striking distance of the NCAAs.

If the season ended today, 10 of the 16 NCAA teams would be from Hockey East and the Big Ten. It could end up being 11 by next month.
