Dang. It's in Minnesota. So not the correct thread.

There's a new bar in the works in Moorhead.

Called Starbird Lounge. (Airplane mode)

Just happens, I recently got into tiki.

So I'll be curious to see what its like.

Also sad 2 see the iconic Psycho Suzi's closed in Minneapolis.

But now I see I have to check out: Rum Row and Tilted Tiki in Stillwater.

Don't watch Spikes Breezeway Cocktail Hour on youtube.

It's not good for the waistline.

That's impressive. Growing faster than Fargo.

Surprised I had never heard that.

Whoever is running that area is doing something right..... Great place!

People fleeing MSP for the "mostly rocks and cows*" up north in Bemidji?
I also perceive (in my travels) that the Brainerd/Baxter area is growing.

Bemidji will always remind me of their hockey camp that I attended for 3 summers in a row in the early 70’s. It was the premier camp at the time and cost a whopping 125 bucks a week which included room a board too. They came out with the Lange skate one summer and let everyone try them out. I was not a fan

I wonder how many counties they are counting to get that number?

As far as the Government is concerned, the Bemidji MSA has 46,718 people in the 2023 census estimate. (Which consists of Beltrami county)

Bemidji itself has 15,946 as of the 2022 estimate.

That's far from 100,000 people.  And a little misleading depending on how they are getting their numbers.

Search for Bemidji on this page to see the official numbers.

Market areas are not easily defined. In sparse places like northern mn they can be pretty large.

You take out your compass draw a circle around Bemidji in a 45 mile radius. You'll likely get 80,000 plus permanent residents.

Plus at least another 20,000 summer weekenders. It's "lakes country" so they are spread out. But Bemidji has both a Home Depot and a Menards which is uncommon for such a small town. Shows how far away people come (market area).

Don't think anyone thought the city of Bemidji had 100,000 people.

But it's growing fast. Faster than Fargo.

According to the 2020 Census the population was 14,574 It would be interesting to see where they're getting their stats from. Cass Lake, MN is 675

Anyone know how to track construction at the air force base?  Are there permits or anything like that listed anywhere?  Seems like the air force base and grand sky are legitimately becoming a pretty big deal.

Is this permanent, or just a normal seasonal stoppage?  Fargo doesn't appear to fly to St. Pete during the summer either, and GFK flights to Sanford also stop for the summer after this week I believe.

Cool video on the MN State Fair. Had no idea it was the biggest in the country. I might have to go.

The people in the largest city in North Dakota can drive to the Minnesota State Fair in 3.5 hours.

Or they can drive to the much smaller ND State Fair in 4 hours.

This another example of Eastern ND feeling more culturally aligned with Minnesota in a lot of ways?

I wouldn’t go to the Mn fair if it was across the street much less drive 3.5 hours.  It’s a total cluster imho.:D

Completely agree, gates get shutdown due to fights, protest shutting down traffic, and make sure you leave before 7:00 PM/8:00 PM.
