Most cases are in a cluster of one or two counties so I’m guessing his order was made to avoid having a patchwork of local orders and having people go to those cities where most of the cases in MT have been reported (Bozeman, Billings) My apologies......0.009% of Montana resident infected.....and a death. Half those ventilators are for kids too. For adults, this number is 197 per million according to this published medical survey. Going to grand forks, a population of ~60,000 people, that gives grand forks a comparative total of roughly 13 ventilators. I rounded up for you. These ventilators are still needed for the typical patients. So all it is going to take for our own infrastructure to start struggling is a few severe cases. I posted another article below that is titled "Allocation of Ventilators in a Public Health Disaster", published in 2008, that goes into detail on what medical professionals actually need to deal with on the frontline. https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/21149215 https://www.cambridge.org/core/services/aop-cambridge-core/content/view/687DAE3F9B11939B5EFD5AB7DA5013B1/S193578930000077Xa.pdf/allocation_of_ventilators_in_a_public_health_disaster.pdf I personally would not take any advice on a pandemic seriously from some dude on twitter named "EconTalker" who only has a degree in economics, but you do you ☺ Meanwhile.... ....and this after the Senate approved a $2 trillion stimulus package stacked full of needless pork.

In the title of your article it even says "bans most" not all. Flights to and from China were still allowed at the time for business purposes. From your article, arguable the biggest airline in the USA: "Delta plans to wait until Feb. 6 to suspend China operations to help travelers in China leave the country. dynato
12 minutes ago, Cratter said: You know he posted the sources to the information right? He posted links to a published medical journal that talks on why Italy has such high death rates for influenza. Based on numbers of deaths in 2014, 2016, and 2017 to establish a trend. The article was published late in 2019 and the only reason it remotely applies to the corona situation is that Italy has high death rates compared to the rest of the modern world. The supporting information in the article is what I had already touched on earlier - old age, multi generational households, tightly packed cities. I learned this information from Michael Osterholm, who is a world renowned specialist on infectious disease epidemiology. Hes from MN, good guy. Has a non-biased interview with Joe Rogan about infectious diseases worth checking out. I've been reading, and I do actually mean thorough reading, and linking articles like crazy. It doesn't make me an expert by any means, but it does make me well informed enough to comment. This guys bio says he podcaster, author, and filmer, not a medical professional. Anything he comments about the pandemic cannot be taken seriously, much like that of the comments made on this thread. -Also looking back, in the post you shared he never claims we are the next Italy. He just points out that the USA is not seeing as crazy of a high death toll and links to a resource for people to understand why. So he actually is contributing to moving the conversation forward - a good thing.

Cratter
The Minnesota governor stated Wednesday: Quote based on scientific modeling, if no mitigation were put into place, Minnesota's worst-case scenario could be 74,000 deaths from COVID-19. That math comes out to over 4 million deaths nationwide. Don't forget he also said 40 to 80% of Minnesotans will get Coronavirus no matter what they do. Quote "Forty to 80 percent of us will eventually get this (the virus), even if we shut it down now." The best news that will come out of all this....The next time an expert projects 4 million deaths from a pandemic. We will not even break a sweat. All we have to do is "shelter in place" for a few weeks and that number will drop by at least a multiple of 50.

I talked to a number of my old HS and college friends over the past week+ that either are nursing home administators or healthcare providers in ND. Not one gave any report of anything like that. Present something factual..........at some point. All these N95 masks that no one can find were in ample supply at Menards in Fargo as of this past Sunday.
