I think she's in remission, but there's always that risk I suppose. Caruso has great passion, great intensity, a little PJ Flecky for some people's taste, but the results speak for themselves. I just think Drake and Butler raised their level when Caruso came in and won the league with mostly D3 guys. Also, the issue with the PFL is your best players have one foot out the door. Their non-conference games against the Big Sky/MVFC are basically auditions for scholarships elsewhere. You're fighting over players with the NSIC.

Stepsis going to UNI convinced me that money wouldn’t be an issue.

I am really thinking its going to be Fruechte.  And that would be a bad thing.  Still gives us a coach that wasn't a former player or coach (I mean technically he coached a year, but he just got here.  Still an outsider).  Also, likes saves the exodus of players hitting the portal.  Plus, the current players seem to like him.  If its someone else, that will be fine.  But I think Fruechte is the front runner.

Taking way to long to be fruechte unless he has the same agent when he was a pro and made Chavez roll his pants up yoo

I'm heading out to the ski hill for the rest of the day.  I'll make sure my fellow ski patrollers are on the lookout for anybody wearing green in groups of two or more.  I'll also be in some of the lift lines with my facial recognition app.  I also said to alert me if they see anybody skiing in a suit and tie.  Chaves is sneaky but I'm one step ahead of him.

How deep is Fruechte's rolodex? By my count he would need to bring in at least 5-6 assistant coaches to fill out the staff. No way he can keep the status quo...especially on defensive side of the ball.

Thanks Coach DeBoer; but, why was he never a play calling coordinator for you?

That would be ridiculous. Why announce a nationwide search and then go internal?

It's worked really well for WBB, right? (sarcasm) :whistling:

Seems like they wouldn't have put the criteria how they did then, as he doesn't meet that.

Yeah that's the one thing that is likely preventing it from being him.  Why out under "Minimum requirements" 8 years of college football coaching experience knowing that Fruechte only has 7.  Ideal situation would be hiring a HC that is going to keep Fruechte on as the OC.  Plyers really seem to like him and keeps a familiar face in the locker room among coaches.

Current players liking him and avoiding an exodus (when players leave in the portal every year nowadays anyway) is an awful reasoning to determine next head coach.

Sacrificing one year of recruiting (which wouldn’t even need to happen since all committed anyways) is always okay as long as you hire the right guy, as you then get multiple good years in return. We ain’t going all in on 2025, but certainly want the team to be as competitive as possible right off bat.

Not what you know but who you know …

sound familiar? (e.g., UND football head coaching vacancy 2013…)

Tough to get out of our own way here at UND. It’d be nice to take the next step and actually compete and beat SDSU and NDSU.

Did Deboer take his existing DC with him when he made his move to other teams? If so that might be why, he was already happy with his existing DC so there wasn't really an open spot for Schmidt to get promoted to. I don't know if that's the case or not, just saying.

Alabama and DeBoer currently has 3 co-defensive coordinators … apparently Schmidt didn’t was to join that …
