Siouxphan27
well that sucked. I can't complain about the non call on Hooker though. He initiated the contact and the other guy was flat footed. not going to get that call ever at the end of a game. The less Shanks plays, the better. my patience has grown thin on that experiment. Let'sGoHawks!
Looked like Jones kind of blew off the Montana coach on the handshake. Griz coach looked upset about it. Anyone else catch that?

hoops44
Should have put shanks in near the end when on defense, shanks needs to work on hand strength
teamsioux
Jones once again embarrassed himself during handshake. He acts so immature way too often.

teamsioux
Horrible calls does not give him the right to be a jackass. He does it whenever things don't go his way. Multiple times this year where he has did this during postgame line. As often as this has happened I don't think he has earned the benefit of doubt. UND-FB-FAN
You wonder why Jones' teams have been called chokejobs? Because they are! Jones provides no leadership at all. As soon as Montana regained the lead late in the game, Jones did nothing. He provided no guidance or direction and UND went ahead and just chucked up a poor shot while being more than flustered. Jones jumps up and down like a child not getting his way throughout the game; it's embarrassing for even the fans in the stands. Jones needs to go. UND can recruit top talent, and obviously that always helps, but having leadership from the head coach would help this team accomplish so much more. This whole lackluster coaching situation really is quite disappointing. I keep trying to go to games, support this program and hope Jones can come around, only to be cruely reminded time and again that Jones is not a good Divison I men's basketball coach. His lack of "likeness" is also troublesome. Throughout the game Bubba walks around and talks with everyone, only reminding everyone that Jones just doesn't have "it". Student-athletes played well and the turnout was great. Real disappointing result at the end.
niouxsiouxfan
This is what is so frustrating! The game plan and decisions to get the team in position to get the win. Then the failure down the stretch, with a 6pt lead, to not be able to put it away, with bad decisions and play calls. Watching a close game terrifies me. Teeder11
You guys are harsh today. Hawks played well against a team that is flying, and who was getting the majority of the calls and noncalls. I mean when have you ever not seen a call when an opposing player jumps up and hangs on the rim and then releases only to cause the goal to shake after the shot is in the air? i will call a spade a spade when it's merited. Today is not a day to crap on the team or coaching effort.

Wow! Just Wow. Sorta like the ladies playing the Griz right now, with 60 seconds left, UND up by three. Refs call a technical on UND during the timeout. Announcers have no idea why. Edit: Brew called a TO when he didn't have one.
Sioux_FF
Tremendous effort. Once again we played with emotion and heart. I think our biggest issue is that Shanks isn't very good. 90% of the time his hands are down by his knees and that makes him late making plays on both ends. Avants played his heart out, but we need something out of Shanks, but its just not there. Cashman in street clothes doesn't help. So, No. 12 was the difference, overall Montana played smart and got great production out of the post and from their quality depth. I still think our team is an upgrade over last year's and it was a fun atmosphere today. Side note...late in the game the football players started a "Lets Go Hawks" chant. Thought that was interesting.

Popular Post MadScout03
As a coach you are supposed to be a leader and a role model. You can see his actions rubbing off on his players as some went through the handshake line and wouldn't even make eye contact with Montana's coach, didn't give him a head nod. Nothing. Jones' actions at the end of the game were inappropriate and childish. Yes, his team just lost a close game. Yes, the non-call on the goaltending play is frustrating, but that one play isn't the only thing that went wrong. Suck it up, be a man, and be a good sport. I don't think the Montana coach wanted to stop and have tea and crumpets, but after a tough battle like that a mere pause to acknowledge a good game is appropriate. Blair Walsh, on a much bigger stage, in a much bigger game, stuck around afterward to shake hands with the Seahawks players and coaches despite missing the biggest kick of his life, one that helped cost his team the season. If he can do it, so can Jones.

Bubba's squad presents themselves well, and that's why they will be doing great things in the not-so-distant future.
