Cratter Posted February 21, 2016 Posted February 21, 2016 Outdoors with a couple great ex Sioux players facing off. Haven't been this excited to watch an NHL game in awhile. Quote
Cratter Posted February 21, 2016 Posted February 21, 2016 Three ex Sioux made NBC's "State of hockey team" forwards Brock, Parise, & Oshie. Quote
Cratter Posted February 21, 2016 Posted February 21, 2016 Randomly watching the NHL throughout the year, they really seem to be emphasizing "american" stuff...heres a chart of the top american players on the team. Heres' the American stop players for todays game. And they seem to make a conscious effort to point out the US colleges these players attend. Has it always been this way or has this amount of stuff increased in recent years in response to something (a shift in better US players, a need to connect the game to the US viewer more)? Quote
Oxbow6 Posted February 21, 2016 Posted February 21, 2016 Now THESE are the green home jerseys the Wild should have. Quote
farce poobah Posted February 21, 2016 Posted February 21, 2016 If Pominville starts scoring, the Wild will be in good shape. Quote
sioux rube Posted February 21, 2016 Posted February 21, 2016 6-1 azz kicking of the defending champs. 4 games in a row with 5 or more goals, a franchise record. Quote

Ray77 Posted February 22, 2016 Posted February 22, 2016 Thoughts on the Roszival hit on Zucker?I You could argue that the puck wasn't on Zucker's stick, so I could maybe see a 2:00 interference call - and that's even questionable since Zucker was trying to get control of the puck as it was in the air, but holy crap - 5:00 major and game ejection?! Roszival doesn't leave his feet, doesn't hit him with an elbow, looks like a shoulder to shoulder check to me. Yes, I see that Zucker's head hits the ice and unfortunately he got a concussion from that. I just don't get how Roszival gets a 5:00 and a game for that... 3 Quote
The Sicatoka Posted February 22, 2016 Posted February 22, 2016 Morning guys on NHL Radio (SiriusXM) called it "an unfortunate difference in heights": Zucker's face is at Rozsival's shoulder height. They didn't see any penalty. They had Pierre McGuire on with them and he agreed. They all suspect the head hitting the ice did the most damage. Quote

I've noticed that too in the limited NHL on NBC I've seen. But they also billed yesterday as "Hockey Day in America," so that probably had a lot to do with it too. Quote
The Sicatoka Posted February 22, 2016 Posted February 22, 2016 NBC broadcasts in the US primarily. The average NBC-watching rube thinks the NHL is all Canadians save for a few "Rooskies". NBC is trying to market the NHL to Americans by pointing out "yes, there are Americans out there on the ice." 1 Quote
sioux rube Posted February 22, 2016 Posted February 22, 2016 37,000 for the alumni game Saturday and 50,000 plus for the game sunday. Wish I could of been one of them. Quote

siouxforcefans Posted February 22, 2016 Posted February 22, 2016 It was amazing! I didn't take many pictures, because I was too busy watching the games - Alumni handshake and a panoramic of the Sunday game 3 Quote

Cratter Posted February 26, 2016 Posted February 26, 2016 It's not just that day. Sentence starts off with "randomly watching NHL throughout the year." Quote
sioux rube Posted February 28, 2016 Posted February 28, 2016 Finally the Wild get a win at the X in the year 2016 with a 3-1 win over the Panthers. Tuesdays game should have a playoff feel to it with the Avs in town and I and 3 buddies will be there and starting at Tom Reids around 4 to start the pre game beverages. 1 Quote
siouxforcefans Posted February 29, 2016 Posted February 29, 2016 ^^ We tried to hit Tom Reids Friday before the outdoor game, but it was closed for a private party... As in loaded with all the alumni. Quick look through the window in the door (all blinds were pulled) made it clear who was in attendance 1 Quote
farce poobah Posted March 1, 2016 Posted March 1, 2016 A very well-written viewpoint - another writer who loved the outdoor game in Minneapolis: http://www.thepostgame.com/daily-take/201602/san-jose-minnesota-outdoor-hockey-nhl-stadium-series 1 Quote
