Has the shift worked at all this year?  Like how many times have we seen a ball hit to where our second baseman should have been?

11-6 now.  At least they didn't quit.

I was thinking the same thing about the shift. Maybe it's just one of those things you notice more when it's not working. I would like to see the actual numbers on how successful it is.

I have a feeling that "what if" may be muttered a lot when all is said and done with the 2019 Minnesota Twins.

Tremendous lineup.  Great role guys.  Looks like everyone likes each other.

Not getting a proven starter at the deadline will haunt them.  If Pineda doesn't come back as the guy from the last two months and Smeltzer gets tagged a couple times this team won't make the postseason.

The pitching needs to step up or the playoffs won't last long.

Gotta hope the rotation can hold it together for the remainder of the regular season. Do teams usually go with a three man rotation in the playoffs? I could handle Berrios, Odorizzi, and Gibson(on a short leash) in the postseason. I mean, it's no Verlander, Greinke, and Cole but, really, who is?

I'd like to think Perez would be good to move to the bullpen but he can't even make it through the order one time so I have trouble picturing him coming out of the pen to get out of a jam.

All in all, I agree it's just fun to be talking Twins at this time of the year. New biggest series of the year starts tonight, I hope Target Field is just electric!

Well crap, looked like a rally for a minute there.

Bad Gibson tonight, you just never know with him...

Hopefully the good version of one of the Twins pitchers will show up soon. It has been tough to watch lately.

Now Cruz will likely go to the IL.

No Buxton, Cruz, Pineda.....the ship may be starting to sink.

Cruz day to day for now, but it's the same injury that put him on the IL earlier this summer.

The crazy part is the when the Twins hit they don't even need really good pitching. They just need to be average. Twins have scored 5 or more runs in each game this week and  have only won a single game. That's on the pitching IMO. That said, the bats had their chances to pick up their pitchers last night in the 8th and again in the 9th, couldn't get a big two out hit.

Cleveland has used a lot of relievers in their doubleheader Wednesday and again last night. Hopefully the Twins can keep it close with Bieber starting tonight and take advantage of the tired bullpen late.

Smeltzer can't stop the skid as he was awful. 7 hits and 3 walks in 4.1 innings and a lot of high 80's fastballs in the middle of the plate. The inning that knocked him out started with the perfect example of the way things are for the Twins right now as Smeltzer and Cron ran into each other on a bunt and instead of getting a quick out to start the inning there is a runner on for the top of the order.

I think in the future a guy like Smeltzer is a lefty specialist.  Good location guy at times, but the second or third time through the hits are gonna pile up.

Win one of these last two to try and save some ground.  Kluber comes back soon too.....
