MissSioux85
Unfortunately, I'm not making the trip, but I wanted to pass along info about the official UND Alumni pregame party: Saturday, November 8 4:30-6:30 pm Fluno Center

burd
Badger fans are really grumbling this year with the attendance issues of recent years and their poor start this year. It's a great venue for college hockey, though, and it is at its best when the Sioux come to town. Badger fans love the UND series. I'm sure the ugly red will be jacked to take the Sioux down and get their season back on track. Can't let that happen.
SkysLimit87
Ya I'm hoping for a sweep!! Hopefully the badgers fans aren't like the gophers fan when your down in their home town
fargosioux
Ya I'm hoping for a sweep!! Hopefully the badgers fans aren't like the gophers fan when your down in their home town I was there about 4 years ago. Nothing close to UMTC fans. You'll have some fans chirping, but pretty tolerable.
Mariucci
I was there about 4 years ago. Nothing close to UMTC fans. You'll have some fans chirping, but pretty tolerable. Back in the 80's and early 90's prior to their football program getting good, UW fans and the Dane County Coliseum was the most hostile in the WCHA hands down. Night and day compared to what it's like now.

I've seen about 30 games there and the sight lines for hockey aren't good It works well for basketball however.
burd
Really? I don't know anyone who think's Kohl is a good hockey arena. I've seen about 30 games there and the sight lines for hockey aren't good It works well for basketball however. Not talking about sightlines. It is not a hockey-specific venue, that is for sure. The third level is worthless, as far as I'm concerned, even on the rail. I'm talking about the overall college hockey experience. I haven't seen nearly as many rinks as most people on this board (or probably you), but I can compare it to Mariucci, the Ralph, and a several others. Wisconsin fans just like to have fun, and it shows. I've gone to games there wearing Sioux colors when I was alone, with my kids, with friends, and with just my wife, and I've never encountered anything but good-natured ribbing. Seriously rude behavior happens, I know, like it does anywhere there are a lot of fans and too much booze, but if you keep your sense of humor, they will too 90% of the time. UND99
Kohl is a decent arena. It's obvious that it's not built specifically for hockey, but the atmosphere more than makes up for that. Madison in general and the UW campus/Wisconsin capital area make this trip a must IMO. Here are my recommendations for things to do during a Wisconsin roadie: The Capital Square and State Street area are full of great bars, eateries, shops, etc. My personal favorite is The Old Fashioned (very popular, can be hard to get into during the dinner rush). I'd also do State Street Brats for a pre-game meal. Farmer's Market held Saturday morning in Capital Square. The Saturday of the UND vs. Wisconsin series is the last weekend of the season that the Farmer's Market is held at the Capital. Lots of good produce, baked goods, crafty stuff, etc. Beer. Madison is one of America's great beer towns, home to a number of fantastic craft breweries. Among my favorites are Ale Asylum, Capital Brewery, and Great Dane. New Glarus is a small town that is about a 40 minute drive outside of Madison, a little slice of Switzerland plunked right down in the middle of Wisconsin. The downtown bakery produces all sorts of unique deliciousness, along with a couple of authentic Swiss restaurants available for lunch options. If you are into the beer thing, it's hard (if not impossible) to top New Glarus Brewing. The beers are world-class, and the brewery itself is gorgeous (free self-guided tours - they just kind of let you walk around). It's an absolute gem among breweries. Go have a beer on The Terrace, essentially the lake-fronting backporch of UW's student union. It's a cool experience.

I must have sat by the worst of the worst Badger fans at the 1998 Final Five in the Bradley Center in Milwaukee, as they chirped non-stop behind me and proceeded to dump a bunch of their Nacho cheese on my Sioux jersey before they left...unfortunately I didn't notice until after they were gone...no love for Bucky here. Then to add insult to injury, UND somehow managed to lose.
Snake
Madison is a great trip. We stayed right next to the Capitol. I would recommend Marigold Kitchen for breakfast and Ian's Pizza any time (great late-night). The bars down State Street are great. Wando's was fun post game. Friday pregame We met a crew of welcoming Badger fans at the Red Shed who were kind enough to inform us that the Kohl Center doesn't serve alcohol. They promptly bought us Long Island teas to hold us over. I'm bummed this series is over deer opener because I'd be there for sure.

Sodbuster
My MIDCO TV schedule shows North Dakota @ Wisconsin televised next Saturday night. But, it also shows Bemidji @ North Dakota televised on Friday night. Friday a rerun? Saturday really televised? It does say "Live".

My guide says the same thing and says live for Friday and Saturday so I'm hoping they are getting a feed both nights and Friday night just has the wrong team listed but really it would be great to be able to watch either game through Midco.
