jdub27
yes they do kupp was first team all American as a true freshman, he could move up, and to a better team than northern Illinois. Kupp wasn't a true freshman, he redshirted in 2012. He is however, extremely good. Having Vernon Adams under center makes him that much more dangerous
Bison06
All hype? Serious? In 2012 they managed to round up a few accolades. Jameer Jackson -Named to the 2012 College Sports Journal Freshman All-America Team -Finalist for the 2012 Jerry Rice Award for FCS Freshman of the Year Greg Hardin -Named to the Sports Network All-America Third Team -Named All-Big Sky First Team -Named the College Football Performance Awards FCS Elite Wide Receiver of the Year -Named to multiple preseason teams Golladay played as a true freshman with a severe high ankle sprain the majority of the year and proved this year he had more talent that both of those guys. The talent UND's WR's had wasn't some made up hype promoted by UND fans. The talent was there, unfortunately it was not at other positions. By all hype I don't mean they weren't talented. All hype to say they were the best corp in the FCS. Hardin is/was legit. Jackson...meh, his size made people more excited about him than they should have been IMO. Golladay may develop more, but was never very impressive to me. We'll see how he does at NIU. Keep in mind, UND's run game was awful and they have been playing from behind in nearly every game for the last 2 years. Stats will look a lot better when you play in an offense like that. iramurphy
Can't say any group is best. Hardin was All-American. Ran 4.35 at pro day. Jackson was 6'3" 230 lbs and a beast. Golladay is 6'5" great vertical, great athlete and good speed. This was as good a group as you found in college FB with few exceptions. They could all make the highlight real catches and blocked well. Occasional drops and Jackson pouted too much but this group was special. Anyone who couldn't see that either didn't see them play or hasn't a clue.
choyt3
E-mail just came out with some details for the Spring Game: Definitely scaled back this year but should still be a good time regardless. Seems a minor detail was left off that email... http://kroxam.com/Sports%20Page.htm Crisis averted. Actually looks like UMC has theirs on Sunday. http://www.crookstontimes.com/article/20140424/SPORTS/140429713/2000/NEWS
Sioux Nation
Can't say any group is best. Hardin was All-American. Ran 4.35 at pro day. Jackson was 6'3" 230 lbs and a beast. Anyone who couldn't see that either didn't see them play or hasn't old geaux_a clue. This will get old geaux_sioux fired up but I still think this group was average when all things are taken into consideration. Hardin played fairly hard, blocking was mediocre but a pretty damned good receiver (stats speak for themselves). Jackson was/is a punk. He quit on the team during fall camp in 2012 and 2013. After he was given a token suspension at the beginning of last season, Schleusner couldn't kiss his ass enough and added all of the pistol plays to keep poor Jameer happy. The fact that he transferred speaks volumes about his "team" attitude and he knew his babysitter was gone too. I thought more of Golladay after his freshman season than last year. He seemed to pout a bit because the balls didn't come his way. I think he's a good kid and I guess we'll see what happens against the big boys. Personally, given the new offensive approach, I think McGill and Young will be solid.

[*]As we stated previously on twitter, the game will be Offense vs. Defense. They will setup in various spots on the field and run a set number of plays from each spot. [*]UND Sports had a nice spring ball video preview with OC Paul Rudolph. Position battles we will be watching: [*]Quarterback (Bartles vs. Mollberg vs. Hanson vs. Palandech – The QB spot is 100% up for grabs) [*]Running Back (Shaugabay vs. Sparks vs. Sharp vs. Garman – The RB spot is 100% up for grabs) [*]Wide Receiver (McGill vs. Carr vs. Young – The two starting WR spots are 100% up for grabs although we would give McGill the edge for one of them) [*]Outside Linebacker (Idowu vs. Butler vs. Hickel vs. Labat) [*]Safety (B. Carr vs. James vs. Reyes vs. Coyle – We feel Reyes is the future at one of the safety spots and the other three will battle for the second starting safety position). UND-FB-FAN
What other measure could someone possibly use to say one WR corp is better than another? Saying UND had the best receivers in the nation seems like one of those things that someone said once and every UND fan jumped on board. If they were the best WR corp in the nation, then they were simultaneously the most under-achieving receiving corp in the nation. Making the argument that they didn't have a QB that could get them the ball is not valid if you ask me, because there is no way to know how they would have performed, we only know how they actually performed and it certainly wasn't as the best in the nation. We KNOW how they performed when they had Braden Hanson, an FBS transfer QB from North Carolina, throwing the ball to them in 2012 versus Mollberg/Bartels in 2013. Plus, Golladay transferred UP to NIU, so it certainly looks like they saw big time talent. WRs are only as good production-wise as the QB and O-line, and if you think differently, you really don't know what you're talking about. Bottom line: Your assertion that UND's 2013 receiving corps was built-up purely on hype is absurd. Greg Hardin will likely be on an NFL roster this fall; Jameer Jackson was a candidate for freshman of the year for 2012, and Kenny Golladay transferred UP and made big-time plays throughout his freshman and sophomore campaigns. The WR corps for the 2013 squad was big-time; but like I said earlier, the other positions couldn't handle their end of the bargain. End result is a bad football team. Poor coaching didn't help either.
