homer Posted September 5, 2013 Posted September 5, 2013 Big day for UND athletics today. I can't wait to watch this building come together. 1 Quote
GeauxSioux Posted September 5, 2013 Author Posted September 5, 2013 Updated video with more interior detail, but Phase II is no longer on it. Are changes afoot....? Quote
siouxrunner Posted September 5, 2013 Posted September 5, 2013 There are also some updated pictures on the ICON website. The two-tone lane colors are sweet. Elevated warm-up track will be extremely useful for track meets. Anyone know if the field level is below street-level? Quote
UNDBIZ Posted September 5, 2013 Posted September 5, 2013 Updated video with more interior detail, but Phase II is no longer on it. Are changes afoot....? Not sure if this is the reason or not, but they have to be somewhat careful with the appearance of the IPF all being one project. State law requires the funding for the entire project to be in place or committed prior to beginning the project, which is one of the reasons the IPF was split into 2 phases to begin with. Quote

Was hoping there would be seating in the 2nd level, better view of the whole place when events are going on. Quote

Looks like just a warm up track to me, I don't think they ever had seating planned for that level. Quote
the green team Posted September 5, 2013 Posted September 5, 2013 Brian Faison was on the radio coach's show last night and he said that the field and track will actually be 10 feet below ground level and that Phase 2 is very much an immediate goal but still need a few more million to make it happen. forksandspoons Posted December 17, 2013 Posted December 17, 2013 Does anyone have any updates on the IPF? I haven't seen much activity around there since they finished clearing the debris.. Quote
southpaw Posted December 17, 2013 Posted December 17, 2013 When was this supposed to be finished? For summer of 2015? Quote
forksandspoons Posted December 17, 2013 Posted December 17, 2013 i thought phase 1 was supposed to be done next fall? Quote
RollTribe Posted December 18, 2013 Posted December 18, 2013 Is there offices in phase 1? What is in brick area portion attached to the main building? Quote
forksandspoons Posted January 20, 2014 Posted January 20, 2014 i know it is the middle of winter, but there is nothing but a big hole where the old REA used to be thats just filling with snow and nothing else... Quote
NewUNDAlum Posted January 20, 2014 Posted January 20, 2014 I'm sure they have some sight prep done but they will wait to start pouring until this spring. Technically, you can pour concrete in the winter but unless you do everything right as far as keeping temperatures where they need to be you can screw up concrete pretty badly. Probably better that they are just waiting until the spring to hit it hard and make sure the job is done right the first time. Quote

It also costs a lot more to do the site work and concrete work during the winter. Quote

forksandspoons Posted April 17, 2014 Posted April 17, 2014 I haven't seen much work going on around the site, how do they expect this to be done by fall? Quote
The Sicatoka Posted April 17, 2014 Posted April 17, 2014 There isn't much going on around any construction site in the region. The ground is frozen still. Quote

My guess is that they are waiting for the frost to go out. Then they can pour concrete. I don't think it is a very complex building, not like the Med School, so it won't take a really long time to build. Quote

The football field etc, is phase 1 and the locker rooms etc, is phase 2. I don't think all of it will be done by fall...maybe just phase 1. Quote

Although the new locker rooms, coaches offices, and meeting rooms will be huge (take a look at NDSU's meeting and coaching facilities), having the indoor practice field will be equally as huge for next winter and spring. I'm looking forward to the phase I completion this summer/fall. Quote
forksandspoons Posted April 17, 2014 Posted April 17, 2014 Thanks for the input! Just a little concerned. I'm looking forward to that thing being done as well! Quote
