Guess it doesn't matter that Minnesota has players from Montenegro, Puerto Rico, Russia, Spain as well as a player named Love that was an Olympian. The league isn't racist (in favor of black people). Its just that there are more great black players right now so the majority of the league is black. For whatever reason, the best players Minn. could get happen to be more white folks. Who cares about color. Why the Strib wrote this huge article on a none story.... its crazy. [facepalm] Heck - Glenn Taylor set his franchise behind 5 years by trying to sign Joe Smith, who is black, to an under-the-table deal. That's all the proof I need that he's oblivious to this situation. Also...they had no trouble filling the Target Center when MV3 were carrying them to the Western Conference Finals. Just win, baby! The NBA is the primary reason the NHL is locked out right now. NHL players want NFL, NBA, MLB type salaries while their league doesn't generate revenues even close to that of the other three leagues. dlsiouxfan Posted November 1, 2012 Share Posted November 1, 2012 This is an incredibly dumb issue for the Star Tribune and for these community leaders to focus on. There are plenty of places in our society where discrimination against African Americans and other minorities is very real. There isn't an issue with discrimination in the Timberwolves organization or anywhere else in the NBA for that matter. I'm as liberal as they come but the leaders quoted in this article largely distract from the real issues surrounding racial discrimination in this country when they comment on trivial stuff like this. SiouxVolley Posted November 1, 2012 Author Share Posted November 1, 2012 The Twolves are arguably the most diverse team in the league: two Hispanics and two foreign Slavs. Foreign players have long been discrimated by the NBA, as they were traditionally viewed as soft. The problem is that all the non-American are white, so they don't count as "diverse" in the detractors eyes, even though arguably they bring more diversity than a pool of black and white Americans.
