Bemidji's Super Buffet is pretty good.

Might be better than the Panda.

Go check out Seoul Kitchen in the Grand Cities Mall (formerly Moe's Kitchen) - transformed it into a stylish Asian restaurant.   Bit of a wait but the food was good and authentic.   Staff very nice and attentive - the Gojuchang wings are super sticky and delicous.   Great addition in a hidden location.  The croffles are a good dessert but they need to give you a knife!

The "Taproom" downtown is open....stopped there after the game on Saturday.  Talked to the owner...super nice guy.  Only him and his girlfriend were working and since it's so streamlined and help yourself having 30-40 people in there he/she didn't get swamped.

you walk in and give them your credit card...they swipe it and then give you a "credit card" that you hold over a sensor and then pick your drink(s) and fill up your glass yourself.....i think they have wine at the far end. they have a coolor of can bush and bud...if you want one just bring it up the host(ess) and they add it to your card manually....free snacks...free bottled water.

nice tv's.....open concept with a large counter top table in the middle that probably sits 16 or more....

said all the food equip is ready to go...just needs some staff on that one too..said it will "kinda serve yourself" like the beer...you will order on an app and then an alert your food is ready in the kitchen pickup area....

got a little loud...owner said he will be working on some sound deadeners?

when your done drinking you turn in your "taproom card" and they charge you and your done.

gonna be nice addition to drinkers row

*now if mikes pizza could move into the shitter/shower store on the corner...(the blue buidling)

New sign over the old Tea and Crepe location downtown - KING POKE Bowls - cool!  A little Hawaiian cuisine would be a nice addition to downtown and work great in that small space.

It may be needed as Grand Forks did just vote Ground Round as the 'Best Asian Restaurant in Town' in the Best of Greater Grand Forks.

That made me laugh.

Yeah, but isn't the former owner of Shangri La working at Ground Round?  I thought I read that back a few years.

Once again in English please?

Let me translate...Gam Wong was one of the original owners of Shangra-La.  After they closed the original restaurant (1st Chinese place in GF) he opened Phoenix Wok and Grill in a strip mall on Columbia with his son Brandon.   After a few years Brandon decided banking was a better career option (still does) and Phoenix closed.   Gam loved to cook since it was his whole life so he hooked up with Southtown Pourhouse and did the traditional dishes there for a few years.  Despite being a popular food draw to a crappy country bar for a few years they kicked him to the curb.   Gam still wanted to cook so Ground Round brought him in several years ago and he's been cooking there a few days a week (check facebook for schedule) ever since!

He does a limited menu like the old Shangra-La Combo dinner, fried rice and sometimes a specialty entree like his Phoenix Chicken or Walnut Shrimp.   Not wild or crazy but for fans of 80's GF it's chinese comfort food and bless his heart for still doing it although he has to be in his 70's at least!  The combo meal WILL take you back and don't forget to ask for Hot Mustard - it will clear your nostrils for weeks.  Totally worth it for old fans of GF cuisine!

I think he would be in his 80's.  I would like to connect with him some time at the ground round.  I will have to follow Facebook.

Yeah he does and it's fine for Chinese Food(no competition in GF) but to classify it as the best Asian Restaurant was funny to me, it's a pretty limited menu.  And also very Grand Forks to vote for a long time GF restaurant that hired in someone to cook as opposed to picking a full-time asian restaurant.  For my money, I'd much rather go to Sakura, Little Bangkok, or even one of the food trucks that goes around town. But to each their own.

can't remember all the restaurants/bars that used to be in the current red pepper/ sin bin....buddy says the first opening was wild hog but i thought it was a one word name that had to do with sausages or something?

what was the first name of the place....thought it was one word?

then wild hog

then red pepper only
