There was a nice write up of Zach, and JP, in the recent Hockey News as well. Including some ink on JP nearly teeing off on a ref in the Summit Cup series against the Soviets.

I move that "State of Hockey" be banned from this site. As well as any other assholes who enjoy "wasting space" here.

Maybe if the players "do each other", they'll finally get that teamwork concept down.

Greene has a history of stupid penalties, and that will not endear him to coaches and GMs in the NHL, whenever they decide to play. Frankly, I think it sends a poor example to the others to have one of your "leaders" taking a break in the sin-bin, while you work PK. However, I agree that the forwards and everybody else has really got to get into the game, get pissed off at losing and get hungry to win. One thing that seems missing in post-game interviews from coaches and players is any emotion about losing, as opposed to "we played hard, but they got the breaks" type drivel. That is very disturbing.

Toews was indeed at REA for the Friday game against Minnie. The Canadian hockey bigwigs have been pressuring him to play MJ ala Sidney Crosby. However, his "Number 1" WHL draft status notwithstanding, the fact he accelerated his schooling and at least one of his parents is a teacher, the rumors are tantalizing, to say the least.
-
I'm as frustrated as the next guy, but some of you people had better realize that it's better to take your lumps in the months ending in "r" than those ending in "y". You would think we'd lost to some Mite team at REA, and we have played some tough teams the past few series. The team is adapting to Haks' system, and some guys are learning new roles. It doesn't help that some guys, especially those with a "C" and "A" their sweaters are taking penalties, but that's probably part of the learning process. Hopefully, Murray returns soon to provide more offensive presence and the team is ready to move into 2005 on a hot streak.

It's all fun and games until somebody loses an eye ...

I had to laugh when I saw that. Imagine my shock when I discovered the writer wasn't Sid Hartman.

Dammit! How dare he defame the National Anthem!

Not a bad piece at all. I would have liked if they had at least interviewed a Native American who was in favor of the name, but at least they didn't make the name/logo issue the center of the article.
-
This amazing inability to grasp sarcasm and satire is obviously Haks' fault too. Dammit! Will this man stop at nothing?

A big bird, must have been an eagle, crapped on my car ... Damn you, Hakstol!!! /shakes fist

I believe Murray was also favoring a leg after the Minnie series. I hope he didn't cause more damage in Beantown, instead of staying back and getting ready for more WCHA play.

What's the deal with the haircut? Does he go with Lucia to Great Clips?

I'm not at all surprised to see some cracks in the NHLPA armor, especially since a number of players are idle. Like other pro sports unions, the vast majority of players make considerably less than the stars, and tend to have shorter careers. Now if only the owners would throw Bettman out, I'm sure the players would reciprocate with Goodenow.

IMHO, I think the USHL is more of an offensive minded league, while BCHL is more traditional in that players are expected to play offense and defense. Canadian teams seem to have more players who have played O and D as they've developed, so I think you may get better all-around players. Not to say the USHL doesn't produce great talent, but all things being equal I tend to favor players from the BCHL, especially those who have a solid shot at the NHL ... whenever they play again.

Anybody who thought Hakstol would keep Blais' system entirely intact was deluded, to put it mildly. Every coach has their own way of doing things. I don't recall seeing these armchair coaches when our guys swept Maine. Now that we've had a few rough games, and the most people have come to the stunning realization that it's a long way to Columbus in April, certain "fans" are already whining about the coaching. I'd bet $5 even if Blais were behind the bench, we'd still have at least 1-2 in the L column.

Don't let the door hit your ass on the way out.
-
Exactly. If anything the past couple of teams have peaked in November-December, only to struggle in the spring. I'd rather take our lumps now, and let the players adapt to the new coaches, and get ready for a run in March. Except for a few bandwagoneers, I don't think too many people thought this season would be a cakewalk to Columbus.

Comments or not, I was just pleased to see our team featured on ESPN for Yorkie's 700th while I was working off Friday night's "effects". Meanwhile, our poor cousins to the south are relegated to the occasional ticker by playing No-Name State.

Here's a link to Albany's stats. Parise is doing pretty well in production, and David Hale is a +5, with a couple of goals so far. Link

I care about INCH's prognostications about Sioux hockey, about as much as I care for Lucy's. Which is to say, I don't.
-
You have to remember that Lucy played hockey at Notre Dame. If he had played at the U, or another WCHA school, he'd have a better perpsective on the traditional physicality of hockey in this league. I haven't heard any Minnesota players or many of their fans gripe about this too much.

It's being reported that Alfonso Rodriquez will be facing the death penalty in Dru's kidnapping and murder.
