  1. Some guys will do anything to get laid ...
  2. I was thinking "The Don" might like to discuss this issue with Cary Eades, myself. Anyway, I could care less what Lucia thinks of our program. I'd rather the coaches and players stick to their own knitting, and figure out what they need to to do to get to Columbus in April ... besides checking Hotwire for cheap flights.
  3. Missing: Sioux Offense Last seen in Maine. Reward: Possible trip to Columbus.
  4. This from a site that routinely allows the sale of counterfeit books, CDs and DVDs? Sorry, but wrapped "Sorpanos" DVDs are not going to sell anywhere for $30, unless they are phonies, and Ebay is getting a cut of the action. Maybe a RICO suit from DOJ or the FTC would be in order.
  5. I don't think UND was even on Kessel's radar until the tourney this summer. That said, he'll probably end up at Minnesota, which is okay as long as we get ...
  6. Sounds about as realistic as razing West Acres and putting in a golf course. I agree that a city of Fargo's size could use a better ice arena, but this thing has more weight in its ass than J-Lo.
  7. Agreed. While we consider Minnie to be our biggest rival in hockey, they routinely look at Wisco and Michigan overall. However, I think most Minnesota hockey fans never have a problem getting "up" for a Sioux series. Then again, they lost their jug to the "other M" and will probably lose their axe too ... maybe they can look at 'SU for a new rivalry.
  8. Warren Zevon's "Hit Somebody" He was born in Big Beaver by the borderline He started playing hockey by the time he was nine His dad took the hose and froze the back yard And Little Buddy dreamed he was Rocket Richard He grew up big and he grew up tough He saw himself scoring for the Wings or Canucks But he wasn't that good with a puck Buddy's real talent was beating people up His heart wasn't in it but the crowd ate it up Through pee-wee's and juniors, midgets and mites He must have racked up more than three hundred fights A scout from the flames came down from Saskatoon Said, "There's always room on our team for a goon Son, we've always got room for a goon" There were Swedes to the left of him Russians to the right A Czech at the blue line looking for a fight Brains over brawn--that might work for you But what's a Canadian farm boy to do What else can a farm boy from Canada to do But what's a Canadian farm boy to do What else can a farm boy from Canada to do Hit somebody! was what the crowd roared When Buddy the goon came over the boards "Coach," he'd say, "I wanna score goals" The coach said, "Buddy, remember your role The fast guys get paid, they shoot, they score Protect them, Buddy, that's what you're here for Protection is what you're here for Protection--it's the stars that score Protection--kick somebody's ass Protection--don't put the biscuit in the basket just Hit some, Buddy! it rang in his ears Blood on the ice ran down through the years The king of the goons with a box for a throne A thousand stitches and broken bones He never lost a fight on his icy patrol But deep inside, Buddy only dreamed of a goal He just wanted one damn goal There were Swedes at the the blue line Finns at the red A Russian with a stick heading straight for his head Brains over brawn--that might work for you But what's a Canadian farm boy to do What else can a farm boy from Canada to do But what's a Canadian farm boy to do What else can a farm boy from Canada to do In his final season, on his final night Buddy and a Finn goon were pegged for a fight Thirty seconds left, the puck took a roll And suddenly Buddy had a shot on goal The goalie committed, Buddy picked his spot Twenty years of waiting went into that shot The fans jumped up, the Finn jumped too And coldcocked Buddy on his follow through The big man crumbled but he felt all right 'Cause the last thing he saw was the flashing red light He saw that heavenly light There were Swedes to the left of him Russians to the right A Czech at the blue line looking for a fight Take care of your teeth--that might work for you But what's a Canadian farm boy to do What else can a farm boy from Canada to do But what's a Canadian farm boy to do What else can a farm boy from Canada to do ___ I also like the theme from "The Three Stooges" when the refs hit the ice, and Judas Priest's "Some Heads are Gonna Roll" when the opposing team comes out.
  9. Rather than dinking around with another "Cup", I think it would be a better use of time to work to strengthen the game's exposure, especially in areas where the NHL is taking a break. I don't see the CHA or ACC, or whatever MAAC is today, as really being relevant in the national scheme.
  10. Well that sucks. However two quick points: 1. Mankato always plays the Sioux tough, here or there; and 2. Our guys have got to quit believing their own press. The season's long, and games are won on the ice, not in the papers or in a recruiting class ranking. Here's to a better effort tonight ...
  11. 1 out 2 isn't bad for a Stream Yellow dumbass. BTW: Good Sioux fans have heard of Phil Jackson. Afterall, he is one of US.
  12. 9. The rest 8. Baseball 7. Men's and Women's Swimming and Diving 6. Women's Hockey 5. Men's Basketball 4. Women's Basketball 3. Football 2. Men's Hockey 1. Drinking
  13. Actually, the mustache makes him look like a refugee from the Village People. It probably makes him more aerodynamic too.
  14. Bahahahaha! Good one, Chaps. *wipes tears from eyes* If the game had been played in the FloodDome, the only "real rivalry" would have been whether 'SU fans would have filled the other half of the seats for the game, or spent the day at West Acres, with a stop by Outback on the way home.
  15. If it was from a SCCC alum, there'd be nothing but an outhouse ... with one of their players locked inside.
  16. Agreed. Women's hockey, nationally and at UND, is still a work in progress. Even though, I'm more happy watching men's games, give the women credit for working hard and blazing a trail. Afterall, didn't the women's Olypmic team bring home a medal, after the men got sent packing some time ago?
  17. IMO, Lucia scored a bigger coup in landing Danny Irmen than either of the Potulny boys.
  18. I doubt that number is indicative of actual butts in the seats. I was at Ridder a couple of times for "big" games, and I could remember parties, post-college, that had better attendance. Still womens/girls' hockey is still a sport finding its place and fans in the world.
  19. I bought a Bauer Vapor composite before I left MSP last winter for about $185. Great stick, but I prefer the weight of wood stick, but miss the flex of a composite. A couple of the guys I played pond/scrub hockey with broke their graphites/composites, Eastons(?) on rough patches on the ice. I *believe* that Christian is supposed to be working on a generation of wood sticks that offer strength, but good flex too.
  20. I don't believe that UND seriously looked at Bradford, given their needs at the time, and I don't think there was a great deal of mutual posturing with Kessel. Kessel would have been a "nice to have" though. The BC crowd seems certain Bradford will be playing there. Duncan is doing pretty well for a smallish player in a tough BCHL, and Salmon Arm isn't as good as they were the past few seasons. I think he'll do very well at UND.
  21. As with most of their protests, I wonder how many protestors were actually part of the SCCC community. They seem to have a history of trucking in carpetbaggers from GF, MSP, etc., to bolster their numbers. Moreover, I wonder how many people, outside of Saigo and his own blustering cadre of idiots, actually care what the protestors were doing, or what UND does for that matter. On a somewhat related note, I recently read in the Chicago Sun-Times that Marquette University is considering, at the trustee level, changing its name back to "Warriors". Naturally, that is generating some heat with the PC crowd and the academics, but it is interesting that the idea has gained traction at that level.
  22. My deepest condolences to the Blais family.
  23. Lou "I'm Chaps' Lapdog" Ziegler, Fargo Fraud, August 28, 2004.
  24. If you're waiting for anything relevant on this issue from the Fargo Fraud, you're going to be waiting for a very long time. Ziegler, McFeely and the rest are too busy chapping their lips on Chaps' ass.
  25. Agreed. UND's D1 moves began well before Chaps and the Stream Yellow partisans trotted out the Carr Report, only to promptly ignore it. Moreover, the drive to build facilities, consensus and support from alums and current UND students/staff did not come about overnight. As well, even though the Blundering Turd crowd tries to downplay it, the hockey program has allowed us to gain stature within the D1 circles where we are connected (see Maine knocking off Miss. State recently), as well as the NC$$. The financing for the Betty, the Ralph and other facilities, as well as financing a broader athletic program, has been carefully crafted over the years, and not over a pitcher of stale Busch at the Bison Turf.
