Break out the restraining orders ...

Rivals ... forget the idiotic D2 FB nonsense. Minnesota Wisconsin UMD Michigan Boston College Maine SCCC is really nothing more than a convenience for WCHA staffers.

Rutgers fan adopts North Dakota hockey

Welcome aboard, JFR. -
I'm not worried about this season. Even though the WCHA will still be the toughest league in the country, I still think the Sioux will finish in the top 2-3. Losing Parise and Money will hurt at first, but it will give guys like Murray, Porter and Stafford a chance to shine, as well guys like Zajac and Spirko a chance to prove their worth. I think our goalies and D-corps will be very strong. Losing Blais will hurt, and even as much as I bitched about the hiring process, I think Hakstol will do fine as head coach. It's going to an interesting year, and everybody will learn alot. However, barring major injuries or a bad string of games, I think we'll be in the NC$$ tourney again.

FWIW: The Devils have a history of moving incoming centers to the wings. It gives them a chance to develop their game across the board, and also allows the Devs some options in the event of personnel changes, etc. Along the same note, ZParise was recently noted in Hockey News as a future star, along with Suter, Malkin, Rick Nash and Sidney Crosby. Not bad company, at all.
-
Can you imagine how bad it would be if we weren't on the same side?
-
Perhaps if your head wasn't so far up his ass, your reading comprehension would be better. I didn't go after his abilities, but I have little patience for pandering nitwits who fail to see that if their "star" doesn't play it may have something to do with relative talent levels on the squad. I hope he finds his place at UMD, and you can enjoy your travels to the DECC.
-
Yeah, it was pretty sharp. However, its removal seems to coincide with a remarkable lack of recent posts from the HS crowd.
-
Some people cut, and run at the first sign of trouble. And others fight it out and are the better for it. Take your pick.

Obviously Blais didn't think Ziggy was the better goalie, otherwise he would have started. Moreover, if Ziggy was so confident in his abilities compared to JParise and Brandt, let alone Lammy coming in, he probably should have stayed and proved it.
-
Exactly. If Ziggy thinks that Sandelin will automatically give him playing time just because he suits up, he'll be in for a rude awakening. Generally, I like, finally, our goalie situation. I've given Brandt a great deal of flak, but he seems like he finally got into his groove. JParise is still solid, and I think will get even better. Lammy seems to have the talent, and drive, to take a spot from either of those two. Couple that with a solid defense, and it should help the forwards get into their games sooner.

Is Sidney related to Bill Crosby, the semi-funny guy on TV? I don't know about Gretzky, but I think Bobby Orr still has some eligibility left ...

Questions from a Gopher fan heading to NoDak!
ScottM replied to FIRE HELMET GUY #26's topic in Men's Hockey
I highly recommend Whitey's. Even post-flood, it is still a great place to eat, drink and have a good time. No trip to GF is complete w/o a late night stop at the Pepper. Also recommend the Down Under for Bucks on Friday afternoon Does Sensations, or whatever it is/was above the DU, still have 2-1 drinks at 6:00? -
Yeah, opening your first beer at 10:30 am will do that for you ...

As someone who's been spoiled by high-speed internet access, except by employers who hide me behind firewalls during tourney time and expect me to work , how well would the broadcasts do on dial-up? I listened a number of times last season, and the buffering sometimes would take forever.

from the usual gang of media idiots. Link It never ceases to amaze me how NoDak media can embarass itself on the national stage. I originally found the link on Fark.com and it was picked up by Fox News. Maybe Ziegler can write another whine-fest much like he did about covering UND sports ...

Well, at least he didn't lock himself in the can ...

I wouldn't be so sure that every player with an NHL deal is going to play in the AHL. Those franchises tend to run their own shops, and they can afford to pick 'n choose who's going to play on their dime. Most rosters are already set, so if any player, especially FAs or lower draft picks, wants to play on an AHL or ECHL roster, they will probably have to make the team. I'd be interested in whether the NHL teams will cover the salaries of their players who are playing on their affiliates' teams during the lock-out. Better caliber players like Parise, Suter, Vanek, etc. will probably have no problems, but guys who have been wallowing in the AHL for a few years aren't going to let them take their spots too easily. I think a better bet for some of the players might be in the Euro leagues, or God forbid the WHA ...

Interesting "roll call" of up and coming d-men. Some of the names, we might recognize. Link
-
My codolences to the Marvin family, as well. Cal was not only a force in UND hockey, but hockey in Minnesota and across the country. Wonder if Herbie Brooks is telling him how to play the game better ...
-
What are you talking about? Don't you know that we're going have a team comprised of only goalies? We're getting rid of the forwards and d-men ... it's so radical, it's almost Woogesque in genius ...

A4 3.0 Quattro, will probably have it "chipped". A fried just took delivery of an S4 w/ V8. M5?
