Nah, Virg just gets his "information" from here, USCHO, The Onion and when he "channels" Socrates. On a related note, hopefully these Three play up to their billing the next few weeks.

Wouldn't surprise me. This is the time of the year for St. Cloud's annual turpentine tasting event, and the monthly mullet styling festival. Besides, $8 can buy alot of chawin' tobacco for the ladies, so the guys must choose wisely.

You forgot that he's ugly and his mother dresses him funny. In addition, he watches Britney Spears videos with the sound on, he can't skate without a chair, he relaxes by trying to find "Waldo" and he has a propensity to suck his thumb when he's in the penalty box.

I remember one time I was at the NCC, a bunch of these "protesters" started chanting some crap during the National Anthem. I can't imagine they win too many supporters among students and fans with that kind of stunt. But what do you expect from that crowd?

I think the hype is generated more by the old man than the kid. JP Parise would probably be first one to slap Zach around if he had called a press conference. In a way, especially after remembering Patrick O'Sullivan's dad(?), I feel sorry for Kessel. His dad is hyping the kid, and offering tidbits to the press like a PR firm, and he's going to probably the U with huge expectations on his shoulders, and a big target on his back. Any way, it is pretty nice that the WCHA keeps getting solid talent, which benefits the sport and our programs.

Oh, so that's the secret to Lucy's recruiting success; he takes recruits dancing.

You know, the more I think of it, I really hope Kessel gets a ton of media and hype all through his college career. I remember when ZParise was getting a ton of national coverage before, and after, he came to campus, and I think it really affected the team and the fans negatively. Hell, I hope ESPN, The New York Times, the Globe and Mail and Fox News follow him every waking moment of the day, and hound him in the locker room to the exclusion of his team mates and coach. As a matter of fact, I think I'll email the sports desk at NYT and let them know that the greatest hockey player since Maurice Richard is going to announce a college on Friday, or perhaps next week ...
-
He's obviously never seen the chickies along State Street.
-
I thought Kessel did a fine job at the WJC, and I think he'll be a great college player. However, the old man scheduling a press conference for a college hockey siging, let alone all of the coy press snippets the past few months, just screams "restraining order" in the future. Good luck, and a case of Advil, to Eaves or Lucia.

This "bandwagonitis" is endemic with most programs. I recall in Gino's last days that you didn't even have to wait to get into old REA for Minnesota or Wisco games. Most teams probably have a solid core of probably 45-50% of their barn's capacity, who will do whatever is necessary to attend all games. The remainder are floaters who only show up when the team is winning, it's convenient or it's "trendy". That said, most other programs would die to have 10,500 fans show up *any* day, not just a Sunday afternoon to watch a .500 team.

Hopefully, they didn't have a major breach, and you track down whomever got your CC number. However, these agencies are also good places to lodge complaints, and get action, regarding DataFlix's business practices, and they have more teeth than the BBB or customer emails.
-
Okay that goes well beyond screwing up a hockey series. It appears they have wholesale problems, and people with confidential information in DataFlix's hands are at risk. I would suggest that North Dakota residents file a complaint with Attorney General's Consumer Protection office, and document everything you have from this company. Same with Minnesota residents. You can find their sites online. I would also name REA in the complaint, as they sold the service. However, if you really want to either get your money back and/or get their attention, go here: FTC

Now come on. With Briggs out, the seniors will have even more incentive to produce like they have the rest of the season ...
-
If his snowmobiling skills are any indication, they probably won't make it past Fargo.
-
As a general rule, I would be very hesitant to provide credit card info by unsecured email. As far as Dataflix is concerned, as somebody else noted, offering goods and then not delivering them probably trips over a few state and federal laws, and really isn't a good way to do business. If Dataflix has "technical issues", they should resolve them on their own dime, not yours.

With maybe a couple of exceptions, this senior class rode pretty far on ZParise and Money's coat tails. It's showing now, when they should be performing like seniors, instead of 4th liners on some NAHL team. Frankly, I'd like to see how the team would perform if the seniors sat.
-
Hell, why not? Brandt can't be any worse than any of the other seniors playing.
-
I think if we are talking about any level of "purity", we should change all the team uniforms to green and pink, as they are the school colors IIRC. Maybe we could fashion them with stripes, or even flames, so that we at least look faster on the ice.
-
So the fact that you associate with idiots is a reason to change a logo that's been used for nearly 100 years?

Like the NC$$ doesn't have anything else to do? Anyway, I really doubt the "big" names are feeling any real pressure to drop their names, e.g., FSU, Illinois, San Diego State, Utah, etc. Moreover, I don't believe any school should be forced to change their name based on some retroactive mandate from the NC$$. If the NC$$ pushes it, they may wind up in a very public brawl/lawsuit involving the First Amendment, and some of its biggest name schools. The "cynic" tells me that NC$$ is merely trying to paper over the issue, by pushing another survey in the hope the issue will go away with some voluntary changes. It won't.

I thought the AHL game was probably better than most NHL games I've seen or been to, especially at the X. Very talented players, fast moving plays, etc. Maybe if the NHL invested in talented younger types, instead of forking over millions to over-the-hill guys like Jagr, Belfour, Hull, etc., and had rules that encouraged a wide-open game they might actually generate some excitement among casual fans. That said, it was nice to see alot of players whose names are/were very familiar to a college hockey fan.
