  1. Ralph was a lightning rod for the PC goofballs, epsecially since I think he got a kick out of watching them work themselves into a lather. Since he's died much of the heat of the issue has as well, and the BRIDGES cell is striving to avoid total irrelevance. All I know is that the "Sioux" name and logo, got plenty of national and international camera time. You can't buy good PR like that, folks.
  2. Except for the dumbass penalties Stafford took at times, I think he had a pretty nice tourney. I would hope that he maintains that fire and performance as the Sioux head down the stretch. Suter was a disappointment, to say the least, IMO.
  3. Here's a little ink off Yahoo about Parise and Vanek.
  4. Looks like many of the Tri-City "faithful" are ready to burn Toews at the stake. Link
  5. Defense? What's that? I agree that the US d-men, on the whole, were barely adequate, to put it mildly. Then again, when the team refuses to keep possession of the puck, it probably doesn't make much of a difference.
  6. I have no problems cheering for the Canadians. I have more respect for Canadian hockey, and its fans, than any Euro-trash program. Note to Team USA: It's called "back checking". Learn it and live it.
  7. I'm sure 'SU will soon be racking up D-1 titles in every sport bringing NoDak untold glory ... just as soon as Satan's wearing a mink coat.
  8. Was the Central High auditorium booked for that night?
  9. Probably yes. Much like the NBA milked Michael Jordan for a broader appeal, the NHL did the same to Gretzky, and tried to do it to Lemieux. As such, they would have worked to protect their "jewel". Guys like Gretzky got that way by being able to play through MJ goons, third-rate players just up from the AHL, etc. Production may have been lower if they played today, but Gretzky, Richard, Howe, etc. were just born to play at the top. That said, I found myself more interested in watching the WJC on TV that most Wild games at the X. There's something to be said for wide-open hockey.
  10. From what I've seen thus far, last year's USA team was much more complete than this version. I've only seen snippets of the Canadian team so far, but I've been pretty impressed. If USA keeps playing like they did last night, and much of the Russia game, especially in their own zone, they can kiss the "repeat" away.
  11. ... "not that there's anything wrong with that."
  12. I was very disappointed with USA last night. You can tell there are alot of high-caliber individuals out there, and they play like it. Little coordination, poor passing and no real concerted effort until the Swiss were nearly on top of them. I think Montoya needs to sit a game. He looked out of place, and really wasn't as crisp as the last time I saw him play with Michigan. Lee did look good, and I think that bodes well for his 2-3 years in a Sioux uniform. If Sandy doesn't get the team to work on the basics, some "surprise" team make take them down a peg.
  13. It was actually determined that Subway sandwiches and cupcakes made a bad combination ... kind of like light beer and anything.
  14. Yep. Have a safe and enjoyable Holiday, people.
  15. Interesting about Toews, considering his MJ draft position. However, if he is looking at college for a year or two, it would comport with his parents background in education. I've heard that Okposo has dreams of "Crimson" in his eyes.
  16. Nice to see that Kozek and Duncan are both in the top-10 scorers in the BCHL so far. I believe Kozek is/was tied for first.
  17. Can't imagine that the legislature would have the foresight to approve any type of funding that isn't tied to some type of agri-business, telemarketing or similar low rent operation. Maybe if it was another pasta plant, or call center for credit collections, it might have a chance. On the other hand, perhaps the county and city, and maybe UND, would have the stones to step and land this thing, as it seems to be a very nice opportunity.
  18. You know, it's that game for people who don't know how to take a hit.
  19. I think Mapletoft will be Hakstol's next big find ...
  20. It just keeps getting better ...
  21. No way, Lucia's got this kid locked up. You heard it here first.
  22. Not to mention that planned expansion to the south end of Fargo, if Chaps gets his way and "reaches out to the community". It'll be interesting to see all of the chits and favors that get called in during the next legislative sesssion.
  23. Remember the source, Pat. I find it's easier to be charitable to the Stream Yellow partisans when you utilize a bell curve in grading their tripe.
