I generally enjoyed POI, and dealing the Minnesota faithful there. It's like being in somebody else's house, if you mind your manners, you can have a pretty good time. However, there were/are a number ss.com posters who posted enough infantile crap on POI that I was often embarrassed for this board, and our program. Too bad some of these same clowns are still here.

My condolences to Coach Hakstol and his family. Things like this can put life into real perspective.

Is it really true that Blais is coming back next year, and he's bringing ZParise and Money with him?
-
Hah! The job is mine, all mine. Rather than sending my incredible resume, through the magic of Photoshop, I'll just send in photos of the search committee, and the UND administration in "compromising situations". Now, if I can only find a picture of the Travelocity Lawn Gnome and maybe a mule ...

I agree. No matter what was lost in production and presence, this team's upperclassmen are a disappointing bunch IMO. I can't really blame Hakstol at this stage, as the "C" and "A"s, really don't seem to lead by example, except for some dumb penalties. I can't remember a Sioux team in recent memory that has been so filled with under-achievers. I like the younger guys like Stafford, Zajac, Porter, Spriko, etc., but none of them seems ready to take the bull by the horns yet.

Actually, a better name might be "Bunch o' Deadwood Upperclassmen Dragging This Team Down System" Derived from the infamous Polish Torpedo-Yourself System.

That's terrible news. Prof Lee was one of my favorite profs in law school, and probably one of the brightest faculty members the school's ever had. My thoughts and prayers are with him, and his family.

Q: What sophomoric retard would call in and ask about Blais coming back? A: Probably the same type of retard who would ask Hakstol to comment on recruits.

If by "trendy" they mean a few coffee shops and martini bars full of posers, dressed in black and smoking European cigarettes, then I suppose that's trendy. Or just very 90s. When Fargo gets mentioned in the same breath as SoHo, the Gold Coast or Miami, I might believe it. Well, that and when you can read The Financial Times over a cup of overpriced coffee and not have everybody stare, I might buy it.
-
Fargo, "trendy"? BAHAAHAHAHAHAHA!!!! OMG, that is precious. It's almost as funny as that article in Minneapolis-St. Paul magazine a few years ago, where it proclaimed Minneapolis "as hip as New York City." "Trendy" ... yep, that one coffee house on Broadway really put Fargo on the cutting edge.
-
I disagree. I think Fargo and GF are pretty much the same: Provincial, agricultural, retail-dependent and oh, so worried about what the other is doing. The mere fact that Fargo has more "sprawl" of slap-dash homes, apartments and strip malls, and a Hooters, doesn't really make it any better than GF. And yes, I can say that the Hooters in Fargo doesn't it give it any special bragging rights, unless one is really drunk. And yes, they are both frozen outposts, but then I've found I like 60 degree days in January.

Explains why Stubs is still open.

I wouldn't call Arnason a shining example of a college-to-NHL player. He was a -13 last season, he got into it with his coach over his work ethic and he left a Swedish team in December(?) w/o playing a game, and The Hockey News published his bar tab after he returned to the US.

Even though I think Dubay is a media hack, there's no denying the Sioux are really a "bubble team" at this stage. If we can't take at least 3/4 pts from DU this weekend, I don't care how good DU is playing, then the team can get ready to pack its travel gear. This is not the time of year to make excuses for sub-par efforts by so many of the guys who should be hitting their peaks right now.

My condolences on the loss of your friend, Sal. BTW: Was he related to Jim Poolman?
-
Alot of things have changed the past few years with regard to the program. Not all of them good either.
-
I look back at some of these guys, and it seems some of them have actually regressed to the point that if they were frosh they probably wouldn't be playing at all.
-
Well, if there's a "bright" spot in this season, at least most of these useless upper classmen will be gone after it's over.
-
It probably wouldn't the bottom line to have people park in the Olympic-size rink. You could charge a premium, like $2, and the fat cats and their Caddys and Expeditions would feel all fancy. Better yet, why not use it for valet parking? That way a booster driving up from Fargo in their new Benz would feel secure that the car is in good hands, while the valet is actually picking up beer and pizza for after the game ... maybe a doing a few doughnuts on University Avenue ...

Every now and then, one may come up on Ebay. IIRC, I believe most of the pre-1994 sweaters were white, when I've looked them. As well, most of them had reserves of a few hundred bucks, more if they were game worn. It's been awhile since I've looked, so pricing and availability may be different. As well, there are/were a few places online that sell game worn gear, but what they had/have varied and seemed pretty sparse, and the pricing was pretty steep.

Given the profound lack of leadership exhibited by the C and the As, the last thing this team needs is more negative attention paid to it, or a "leader" who is less focused on his game than "normal". Any way you cut it, Greene's stupidity will have negative ramifications for his squad at a critical time of the season.
