  1. Dude, your trolling has really slipped in the last few months. I expect much better from you, Dan!
  2. One of the news broadcasts I saw said that TMZ sports modified the video because the original was "jumpy" and difficult to watch. There may be some truth to the claims that NFL and/ or law enforcement never saw it. Well maybe.
  3. The main accreditation body for colleges and universities, the Higher Learning Commission, has analyzed how Measure 3 could impact the accreditation of the North Dakota University Systems. Here is the press release from the NDUS office: http://www.ndus.edu/news/detail.asp?newsID=237 Here is the actual report: http://ndus.edu/uploads/resources/5095/hlc-observations-on-measure-3.pdf **personal note: I can't wait for whatever issues there are involving IE and siouxsports.com to be resolved so I can paste and quote again without having to switch to Firefox.
  4. Sadly, I cannot quote previous posts, so I apologize if this seems random. I wish I could find a link, but the policy has changed and now police can be contacted in any student situation that involves alcohol (not just athletes...ANY students and ANY situation). I know that there have been other students busted on campus (non-athletes) and the police have been involved. It just doesn't make the Herald. I am having a hard time feeling sympathy for the players. They absolutely knew better. I would say the same thing about any other student busted with alcohol (or any other banned substance) on campus. They know better. The rules and policies are clearly explained to all students within the first couple days of living on campus.
  5. Aw...bless your heart. Keep trying, though. You might get this trolling thing yet.
  6. I have season tickets for hockey, and am often not able to attend both games in a home series. So, I am hoping to share my tickets. The costs would be split evenly, as would the series (You go Friday night, I go Saturday). We would alternate single game weekends (for example: I get the seats for the Man. exhibition and you get them for the single Bemidji St game). I have two seats in Section 306, which is where the Sioux shoot twice. In the past, I have attended more Saturday games, but am willing to negotiate. PM me if you are interested.
  7. I am a UND employee and have worked in an area where it was requested that we not wear Sioux logos (not mandated...just requested due to constant interaction with the general public and the goal of being completely neutral), and another area where nothing has been said...ever. In fact, there are quite a few people who wear the logo, mainly on denim days. I can only describe my personal experiences, though.
  8. Personally, I don't think it is specifically tied to WNBA--just the simple fact that cool names are already taken. You could also call it the MLSization of sports nicknames, too: Dynamo, Sounders, Timbers...
  9. A bit more information... http://www.grandforksherald.com/content/eerc-employees-interviewed-law-firm-describe-bullying-abuse-director
  10. Yeah, so I was feeling pretty proud of completing Hard Charge last weekend until I saw this. Congrats to all of the bad-ass competitors of End-Wet!
  11. Aside from coaches, have UND representatives ever commented publicly about personnel issues? Also, I find it interesting that in this situation, only Groenewold and his wife seem to have voiced their perspectives of the situation to the Herald. **Neither of these comments are directed specifically to you, FS4L, just at the topic you posted.
  12. I am a big Sam Adams Oktoberfest fan, too. I tend to rotate...currently in my fridge: Boulevard Pale Ale, Third Street Brewhouse Three Way, Shocktop Belgian Wheat and Chocolate Wheat (to make black and tans!), and I just bought the Sam Adams Beers of Summer Sampler which has all kinds of good stuff. I used to get excited about finding Fat Tire, but now that it is so readily available, I don't buy it as often. Pretty much the only beer type I really don't like is the IPA. Not a hoppy beer fan at all!
  13. If it is true that the people who designed the T-shirts only wore them for a photo and not to Springfest, then the people most responsible for spreading the hateful images were the ones who placed them on their blog, Facebook, spammed my and other UND employees emails, contacted the news media, planned a march against hateful images and the Sioux logo, etc. How ironic.
  14. A few years ago, an employee of UM Morris and I were chatting about their tuition waiver for American Indian students and she mentioned it was related to the campus previously being a boarding school. I found this on the UMM website: http://www.morris.umn.edu/equitydiversity/financial/aitw/
  15. I have worked at UND in a few different areas over the last 14 years. When the debate started again (in 2003, maybe?), one of administrators of my area at that time requested that employees not wear the Sioux logo to work events. He also requested that we remove any items with the Sioux logo from our offices. He was told that he did not have the authority to mandate how we decorated our office spaces. This was (and is) a "high visibility" department that has significant interaction with much of the university and surrounding community. In 2007 I moved to a different area of the university and we have NEVER been told anything about the Sioux logo. I see coworkers wearing it often. Just thought I would let you know my experiences...straight from the horse's mouth.
  16. FINALLY! I have been waiting for someone to point that out.
  17. So. If Saturday is going to be essentially a regular practice day due to lack of players, why would it be necessary to make a huge production of it? I am not sure I agree or disagree with the lack of advertising by the athletics office, but I can see how Joe Q. Public (not the intelligent, highly informed folks that post here, obviously ) would be bored or disappointed if they showed up to a highly touted Spring Game event and didn't get to see an actual football game being played. How much control does Bubba have in the decision to promote the spring game? He may not want the confetti and show at this point, considering he has mentioned numerous times that the team and coaches are still getting to know each other. The team may just not be ready for public consumption yet, and the coaching staff and athletics office know this.
  18. Does anyone know the number of scholarships offered (if any) by UND for tennis? I would try to find it myself, but I am not sure where to search.
  19. I know Wade a little, and my theory is that UND is the first place he has had to work hard to see success...nothing comes easy any more, and that can be a difficult adjustment. I am interested to see if he returns next year as a changed man.
  20. Fully agree. I am worried I won't be able to get them because I am in one of the lower levels of the Champions Club!
  21. It was against the Gophers in the Ralph, and it was HILARIOUS! Dude couldn't even wait for the puck to drop to tackle Hextall!
