  1. Is that due to there being a Grand Forks Channel Cats baseball team in the late 90s?
  2. The thought of facing Miami in Mpls doesn't make me all that excited, either.
  3. Personally, I think Faison is well aware ofJones' capabilities, but isn't able (or willing) to spend the $$ to bring in someone better. Just my 2ยข.
  4. Not sure you could make that any easier...
  5. Thank heavens for Google! Also, thanks for the legwork... I was wondering too.
  6. Personally, I am not a fan of the knee-jerk reaction of firing coaches, legislators, etc. and these threads make me cringe. But, the atrocious road records each season under Jones prevent me from calling him a good coach.
  7. More specific information: http://webapp.und.edu/dept/our/uletter/?p=45080
  8. Vig looks about the same as he did when we were in chem lab together... minus a little hair.
  9. Something to consider...there are a lot of people that frequent this website that have inside information. Not all of them choose to post.
  10. The committee did look at building a ramp in that spot, but the ground isn't stable enough to support the structure and the roads surrounding it would have had to be majorly modified to accommodate the additional traffic. Which would later translate to higher building costs and higher permit costs...
  11. I can't believe I didn't see the bunnies until now!
  12. Why go see one tenor when you can see TEN?
  13. Because they earned it. If you deserve something great, shouldn't you get it? (My opinion, anyway)
  14. Boy, that's what I would call landing on your feet! Congrats to him and his family.
  15. I'm not sure why I am posting, since no one seems to believe what I have to say anyway. But, if a position posted externally closes at 5pm, the soonest the HR department would have access to the applications to screen them would be the next day. Say there is ONE application, and it meets the criteria. Now, also assume that the HR department doesn't have anything else going on but reading the applications related to the position of football head coach. So, right away at 8am they screen the one application and forward that information to the athletic department. The athletic department would then make the decision to hire that person (or not) and return the documentation to the HR department. Assuming this is all done personally (someone walks the information from Twamley to Hyslop and then back again to Twamley), that could MAYBE be done in a business day. Now, there also needs to be a determination that no discrimination occurred in the process and that the background check is cleared. This can add a day (possibly two, depending on the company used for the background check). Once all of that is complete, then the athletics office can offer the position to someone. So, I suppose it would be possible to announce a hire on December 12 or 13, but the scenario I listed above obviously didn't happen. I honestly don't know why the assistant coach position could be posted for less days...maybe it is due to the banding that the position falls under. I really expected the coach named (or at least one of the finalists) would be someone not initially thrown around on this board. I would be curious to see the names of the other seven that made the screening...
  16. I am interested to see if she sticks around. It's one thing to gain justice and redemption through the grievance process (which was her right and obviously should have been pursued), it's another to spend every day with those same coworkers.
  17. I don't believe it could have gone faster. Here is why: 1. Faison was not going to hire from within, so he had to post the position externally. As has been mentioned, the position was required to be posted for 15 business days 2. All application received are required to be screened by the HR department. There were 70 some applications...that takes a bit of time to sort through. 3. The hiring department is required to interview all applications that are forwarded from the HR department and document the process. It takes time to coordinate the schedules of 9 different people to arrange interviews (more people when you include the search committee's schedule). Remember, the position has only been closed since 5pm, December 10. It has been 5 1/2 business days since then. Like it or not, this is the process. Do you really think Faison would hire a high profile coach in a questionable way (not following protocol)? He still can bring in a last minute coach, but all of the above steps have to be followed, no matter what.
  18. As a Bears fan, I am totally okay with it. ...but it is pretty ridiculous.
