  1. I was watching it on TV, so I cannot comment on TH's statements because I didn't hear them. BUT based on the games I have heard him call, I am not willing to label him a homer. He gives too many props to opponents for that.
  2. Total goosebumps watching Fenton present the cup. I can not get over the fact that the General had double hip surgery and came back after 2 months! As if I needed another reason to pull for this senior class!
  3. Would you really call him a blind homer? Personally I would describe Hennessey as a bit biased, but not a true homer.
  4. So, you're saying that instead of sitting and being surrounded by a bunch of people I don't know that will be cheering against my team, I could be standing and surrounded by a bunch of people I don't know cheering against my team...with limited views. How could anyone turn that down?
  5. By no means am I supporting Kelley or railing against a student's right to express their opinion, but I find it interesting that two freshmen are able to have clear knowledge of the opinions of the majority of students on campus after being UND students for 20 whole weeks. Also, that they are so outraged over the cancellation of Springfest when the only way they could have attended the event was as high school kids.
  6. I personally wouldn't pay much, since I wouldn't know anyone next to me and would likely be surrounded by the "enemy" and all the fun that comes with it. If you were selling two tickets, however... It has been WAY too long since I have been to an NDSU-UND game. Are there SRO areas?
  7. Got anything from THIS millennium on there? Or even within the last 25 years?
  8. Nevermind the fact that Springfest is a city event and not a UND function that Kelley has control over...
  9. Right. Except X resulted in severe punishment from NCAA, and Y did not. If Al had his way, the UND athletes would have suffered greatly, all due to the legislature (or really, a few people's vendetta against the Board of Higher Education). Using all arguments against that course of action seems reasonable. Almost like being a strong leader... It is true the same argument could be applied to Y, but since ultimately the people of ND voted on the retirement (not just legislative mandate), the situations are not the same. You are comparing apples to oranges.
  10. I'd say the odds are slim for finding beet at the concession stands.
  11. Wasn't it a package deal? My memory is that the mandate to retire the nickname and require a cooling off period were in the same bill. Hindsight is always 20/20. Where was the complaining about the cooling off period when it actually was enacted? Do you really think that people would have been okay with an immediate change to the name? This place would have been in uber meltdown if the name was retired and the search for a new name commenced within days. Three years may have been too long, but there had to be time between the retirement and selection of a new name. On a different note, committees are ALWAYS used in higher education. It is how things process...good, bad, or otherwise. It is silly to complain about Kelley's use of committees when it is standard operating practice.
  12. Okay, I am a total geek right now, but I just spotted Starman and Shireen at the Ground Round.
  13. Quick ones off the top of my head: -The student section mercilessly taunting the great J.T. O'Sullivan in the waning seconds of the UC Davis game -Chad Mustard's tiptoe run along the sidelines -Danny Graf and his "airplane" celebration after touchdowns -Being in rainy Florence and nearly taking out the guy next to me from jumping and screaming when Luke took off during "the drive" -Thinking the roof of the Alerus was going to come down due to noise during the UND-NDSU game -Wondering why the roof hadn't come down due to noise during the 4th quarter comeback against GVSU (it was so loud my skin was vibrating)
  14. Years ago I had a knee injury directly related to the shoes I was wearing for running. I bought them based on cushioning rather than support, and every time I ran it ended up placing extra strain on my knees. My physical therapist made it sound like it was fairly commonplace to have injuries based on shoes. I haven't worn certain brands since. Granted, I wasn't playing basketball, but it isn't super far-fetched in my mind. I also don't think that something like that should prevent a deal with a particular brand, though, if alternatives can be arranged for players with similar concerns.
  15. I had it on while I checked Facebook on my phone.
  16. Full disclosure: I am a gal who has never played hockey, but aren't there also moments that can only be seen on ice? Wouldn't having an official in the press box reduce the "up close" views needed for certain calls? Or possibly delay games due to multiple reviews?
  17. I would be interested to see what the atmosphere is like at UNO games when it isn't "The Biggest Series Ever" for them. Before Friday's game it was funny to hear Steve Olson on the radio commenting that he couldn't understand all the hype UNO was placing on "just three conference points when there are 10+ games left in the season". It shifted the perspective a bit...
  18. Shocker. Higher education is a completely different animal than the regular business world (but really, what is the official job description of "businessman" anyway?). I don't work in accounting, I don't know a thing about accounting, and so I don't believe that I can tell an accountant how to do their job. Same with farming and a lot of other fields/professions. Just a personal philosophy.
  19. I still haven't seen it and I have read every post on this forum. But if you say so...
  20. I was chatting with a current football player, and he had very good things to say about the new coaching staff and the direction he felt the team is headed. It made me feel pretty hopeful for the future of the team and also the development of the players into good men...something so important, including long after their time at UND ends.
