  1. It's kind of sad how true this is.
  2. I think spending money to create more high skill level jobs would do more to keep educated workers in ND than cheaper tuition ever could. If oil prices keep falling, the legislature will tighten the purse strings even more than ever, which is saying a lot!
  3. I am curious where the author got that information. There are zero direct quotes about that particular topic. I am guessing she found some "state of the university" or "strategic planning" document. It would have to gain approval from the Board of Higher Ed first, and I haven't seen anything lately to show that a proposal has been presented. Considering there was a great bit of discussion in previous legislatures about how ND schools were educating people just to have them leave upon graduation and looking for ways to deter out-of-staters from attending (which would KILL enrollment numbers at UND and NDSU and likely other schools BTW), I am skeptical that this would come to pass. But, when dealing with the ND legislature, anything is possible, I guess.
  4. It's a blast...I highly recommend it.
  5. How about some kuchen and knoephla to go with it?
  6. HOW do you get to college and not be able to make free throws? It makes no sense to me. Sorry. Pet peeve.
  7. This where I am a bit fuzzy. Here is my understanding: -Via the settlement, NCAA allowed UND to be removed from the "hostile and abusive" list after the nickname was retired -The settlement is ambiguous and open to interpretation, but essentially keeps UND off the list Now an honest question or two: if the decision to go with no nickname was viewed by NCAA to be in breach of contract or violation of the settlement (are those two entities different? Is breaking a settlement agreement a breach of contract?), could the NCAA just add UND back to the "hostile and abusive" list without getting the courts involved? Is it required that they sue? NCAA is a private organization, after all, with specific membership requirements. I slept in my own bed, no Holiday Inn Express for me.
  8. Although technically Peterson has done both...
  9. I think I would have an easier time agreeing with all of the media bashing Goodell and the NFL for not making the suspension retroactive if Peterson hadn't been getting paid.
  10. Honestly, I don't think anyone really knows whether UND can go without a nickname. The settlement leaves things open to interpretation, and people are just stating how they think it would be enforced. Personally I really don't want to see UND press their luck by attempting to go without a nickname and risk seeing the athletes suffer from NCAA sanctions. I say (type) that as a fan of the Sioux name, but also a realist.
  11. Good to hear! I would have rather been there than enduring icy roads coming home from the Cities...
  12. I was watching the news coverage on WDAZ right after the games were announced and something Bubba said gave me pause. He said that the players deserve to experience the excitement of playing a rival. It was then that I realized that every other UND team gets to enjoy the hype and craziness of a rival week, including all the media coverage EXCEPT the football team. So when Bubba said he couldn't keep preventing his players that experience, I not only could see some logic behind the agreement, but I stopped being upset about it.
  13. Yeah you know me! Sorry... I couldn't resist. Apologies for the thread drift.
  14. The comments about swinging his stick into the bench while skating by and that the color green still sets him off were hilarious!
  15. ...and the Bison lose. Somebody better go check on Johnboy.
  16. I would love to know how many phone calls Midco is getting right now!!
  17. I was wondering what all that screaming coming from the south was...
