I didn't see Friday's game, but I did see yesterday's. I don't feel the Sioux played poorly at all, rather Regis had the 3 quickest players on the court and that showed in our turnovers. They were as active against us as I've seen anyone be in a long time.

What won it for us is depth (plus their inside players couldn't stop ours). Those runs at the end of the first half and middle of the second were because Regis wore down. Heck, they switched to zone middle of the second half after playing 27+ minutes of really good man-to-man D against us; foul trouble was one reason but I thought their legs were going too.

Call-outs to Sannes Guinn and Maffin, all of whom we needed to step up - and they did.

I hadn't seen the Sioux since early February and they are a different team entirely right now. Fun to see.

Regis got into the passing lanes, which a lot of teams do against the Sioux (Mankato, for one). However, I felt that some of the perimeter players who normally take very good care of the ball did a poor job of adjusting. Jahner just seemed lost for whatever reason (six turnovers and just four field goal attempts). Finally, some players realized that if the opponent is going to cheat that badly on the perimeter, you have to just take it to the hole. I guess my perception of Regis is skewed by the fact that I've seen them play a total of four times over the past three years, and I've just never been impressed. The Lopezes commit a lot of very dumb fouls, and they would really struggle in my opinion against a zone because they just barrel into the lane and should be very prone to charging fouls.

Not that it means much, but from the last poll, only nine of the top 25 rated schools remain:

1. Florida Gulf Coast University - 22 1 29-0 622

2. Glenville State College (W. Va.) - 1 2 30-2 587

3. University of North Dakota - 2 3 29-3 574

4. Delta State University (Miss.) 5 28-3 529

5. Washburn University (Kan.) 6 26-3 524

7. Southern Connecticut State University 7 28-2 471

11. California State University, Chico 13 22-4 355

12. University of California, San Diego 14 21-4 343

16. Clayton State University (Ga.) 18T 25-5 256

Of the two rated above UND, Florida Gulf Coast has played an extraordinarily weak (independent) schedule, but has blown out almost all their opponents. FGCU may encounter its first major test when it plays Delta State in the South final. Glenville State, which plays in the normally weak West Virginia conference, has lost to its only real OOC opponents: MSU-Moorhead and Washburn.

If UND and FGCU both make it out of their regions, they will be playing each other in the First Round.

Massey Ratings also give FGCU the top rating, but it confirms their schedule strength is unusually weak.

Agree that we didn't adjust - ie, "didn't take care of the ball very well". As to Jahner, she was guarded by players that were quicker and playing her hard on the perimeter.

I just think that we tried to play into their strength (perimeter) vs our strength (cutters, jam it inside). Thankfully, we found the mismatches starting about 10: into the game.

It's hard to know what to make of Kearney. On the one hand, you obviously can't deny that they've won two games they weren't expected to win to reach this point. However, Augie was coming off a home loss to Omaha, and clearly wasn't the same team we saw in Grand Forks a month ago. Concordia-St. Paul had a nice season in the NSIC, but they played three close games this year with Moorhead, who we saw was nowhere near the caliber of the Sioux. I guess the bottom line is that to me, beating the Sioux on their home court is a whole different thing from beating a struggling Augie or a good-but-not-great Concordia-St. Paul in close games on a neutral court. If UND plays a solid game tonight, I'm pretty confident they'll be heading to the Elite 8 for the first time since 2001.

I'm debating, if I should go

I've only made 5 womens games this year Northern at home, Augie at home, St Cloud on the Road...(All Bad)

On the good side USD and Duluth at Home..(Good)

Hope I'm not a Jinx..?

Maybe it would help if I coached UNK, I heard thier Coach went into labor this afternoon....?
