NDSU had $29 million in athletic projects approved. The funding was entirely privately raised and appears to have been a straightforward pass-through.

In addition, $43 million was approved for residence hall projects at various campus locations.

The largest request was an $80 million state / $68 million other funding proposal for a Medical Facility Addition at UND. The state did not approve that project this time. It was already considered a low priority, and overall the legislature did not appear to be in a big spending mood during this session.

give us the cliff notes version?

Can we assume this $29 MM in "private funding" is legit and has been accumulated over years that NDSU has bee beating the drum to go FBS?

The requests for privately funded buildings are generally submitted prior to any funds being raised.  You can look at it as a request to start raising money and, if funds are secured, begin construction.

Wow!  That is pretty cool.:)

I agree!! Very nice addition and facility.  As someone who learned to play golf on RR in 1968 during my Junior year at  UND I cannot believe the progress! Great for UND.

tear down the clubhouse....use VERTICAL space and build the nursing home thingy and new clubhouse on the corner of demers and 34th.....find a way to use the old range to make up for losing some land to the underpass......

then put the top golf west of the new dorms..right on uni....right on campus....right next to all the students.....

but a new parking lot.........

There's still space available on campus to put more items if needed for future development. While the parking lot may have been dumb, the goal of it was to get students who live in McVey and West away from having to park in the Chester Fritz Performing Arts Center Lot to solve the following issues:

1. Students having to play frogger with traffic that could care less about pedestrians

2. People attending events at the CFPAC would have to park areas farther away because the CFPAC had 3 areas in the lot for different on-campus students depending on the residence hall they were in.

3. Due to redevelopment of the east side of campus/core campus, there isn't a lot of parking in general in that area. The CFPAC lot has pretty much transitioned to the lot for commuting students who do buy a standard parking permit.

Again, the parking lot may have been dumb, but it solves more issues than you think given the current layout of the campus itself.
