The Sicatoka Posted Wednesday at 07:04 PM Author Posted Wednesday at 07:04 PM There's a plan to add a practice facility for that. For someone so smart you don't know many of these things. Quote

Big Green Posted Wednesday at 08:57 PM Posted Wednesday at 08:57 PM We will see how the Spitfires do attendance wise this year. IMO even though there is not much to do in GF in the Summer, residents don't care. Once Friday Afternoon rolls around they are all off to the lake. The town is dead on the weekends. 2 Quote

Maybe you and I know different people but the lake doesn't get replaced by anything happening in Grand Forks. Or if it does, it's a rare occurrence. 1 Quote

UND's rent also paid for the Betty. What was the final breakdown on the cost of Albrecht field? No argument it was a generous donation and led to action to get it built but pretty sure it was a fraction of the cost. Quote
Cratter Posted Friday at 04:42 AM Posted Friday at 04:42 AM I never thought people were looking to do more on the summer. Winter is so long and summers so short. Theyre jam packed with activities. Tubing Red Lake Falls, Camping, Fishing, Boating, Golf, WeFest, Frisbee golf, Atv Runs, Mud runs, marathons, Hill Climbs, Sprint car races, farmers market, street fairs and outdoor dances (every small town and bar), carnivals, CboyTV just announced their own "festival" coming up in Brainerd, waterparks. I know a lot of people who have season campers on MN lakes and go basically every weekend. I actually dont enjoy the idea of a lake place because I miss out on so many other summer activities and you feel obligated to drive on average 1.5 to 2 hrs every Friday evening or Saturday Morning "to get your money worth." Cratter Pro Tip: book a hotel room at Holiday Inn (detroit lakes), reserve a campsite for a weekend at Polk County campground (for when youre craving that sandbar experience),a cabin at itasca state park, and another cabin or hotel on a lake. Those 4 weekends take up a 1/4th of your summer. Give you new experiences and dont tie you up financially/physically all summer. 1 Quote

Except that you could probably buy a Holiday Inn with the increased equity in that lake place over the past 20-30 years. Agreed though, no shorter of things to do in the summer. It's the winter that could use some more options. Quote

That Holiday Inn on Detroit Lake is on the water with your own balcony overlooking the water. Has a its own private beach. Boat rentals and docks. And bar/restaurant with patio overlooking the lake. Its equity went up faster ha. Was moreso talking all rhe season campers...$3k to $4k a summer. To rent a spot. Plus a newish camper as they dont allow "so many year old camper." Just as many if not more seasonal campers on Maple Lake than houses? Some lakes the seasonal outnumber them by quite a bit. Its big business. Quote
