Don’t let ASU know they rank this high in hockey spending. They might put a banner up for being in the top three of spending 😂

Really goes to show money can only get you so far

Sharks taking both Verhoeff and Carels out for a dinner/meeting.
Might be taking a D at number 2.

In 2023, they selected Boston College forward Will Smith at No. 4 overall. In 2024, they took Boston University center Macklin Celebrini at No. 1 overall. Last year, they took Ontario Hockey League forward Michael Misa at No. 2.

With a loaded group of forwards, San Jose seems likely to turn to the blue line in this draft, where a number of promising players are available.

Verhoeff and MacKenzie high up in quite a few of the testing results at the combine.
Carels isn't participating due to an injury in the WHL playoffs...he'll be good to go for season though.

I feel like he's totally a sleeper on next year's roster.
Not many mentions of him in our incoming recruiting class by people outside of ss.com and UND people...but I feel like he's gonna make an immediate impact, especially given his age, WHL experience, and how good he already looked in last year's WJC for Canada.

I don't think there's an incoming NCHC rookie dman I'd want over him aside from maybe just Carels (also coming :) ) and Rudolph.
Guys like Lin will get more hype but I think MacKenzie is more NCAA-ready.

After seeing and hearing what the players do at the combine and how it is ran, I don't see why a player should go to it.

Would you please elaborate? All I know about the combine is there are interviews and physical testing. Do they get on the ice at all?

No ice training at all. The testing is done at a hotel that is stuff that doesn't translate to on ice.

What they should do (as an example), have all the players draft eligible in the West come to the Ralph. Have the NHL scouts, and executives for the teams in the stands and NCAA/CHL/USHL coaches run on ice drills with a scrimmage (no contact) to end each day. Have NCAA strength and conditioning coaches run what they currently do in the weight room. Do this for a week with a different group each day, with the best having a scrimmage on the final day (Friday).
