Correct.

The only potential game without last change is the national championship if we play Michigan.

This last change thing is overrated.   Just look at all the lower seeds that have won games over the years.

Agreed. Just play the game.

Also agree.   That said, it can be an advantage for important faceoffs and against teams with a dominant line.  Didn’t help against the Plantes last night, but that doesn’t mean it’s not a good tool to use, and I’m sure good game coaches utilize it when they can.  And because it’s the coach’s responsibility not the players’, it is not something they even need to think of.

Well we are locked into #2 ranking. Now just a question of who we play at #15. (Yes, it will be #15, and #1 will play #16) Also, means #7 will be in our regional, most likely Providence. I disagree with those who think the brackets will be rearranged for attendance and travel considerations. The committee should and will honor bracket/NPI rating integrity, otherwise why bother doing it.

I like your optimism but to believe this is a 100% guarantee is incorrect. Once they have their 1v16 matchup, The committee treats the seeing in groups. For example: they are willing to swap around 14/15 13/14 because they are all 4 seeds

Same goes for 9/10 10/11 11/12 since those are all 3 seeds. They will absolutely swap 1-2 spots for sake of attendance as long as they keep the teams in their banded seeds. They’ve done it before and they’ll do it again to get 1/4 full rinks up to 1/3 full haha

The stated purpose of the NPI is for rating and NCAA tournament seeding. I think they will honor that purpose UNLESS it results in a repeat of a first-round conference matchup. I'm good with that.

Placing a host school at their regional site is pure bullsh*t and the best reason to do away with regional sites and go to home schools based on NPI rating (hopefully next year). I hope we avoid that bullsh*t this time around.

If these are the teams in consideration for the 4 seeds, you can't tell me that there's enough NPI difference to not swap St. Thomas (over UConn) to Sioux Falls for attendance purposes.

No data to back this up, but I feel like they've been sticking to bracket integrity more in recent years, with the exception of first round conference matchups.  Those look to not be much of an issue this year, with just an 8-9 ECAC match to deal with, and the NPI still has some wiggles left.

Watched the basketball selection show

there is no sending a school to the closest site, they send them all over the country , pretty much based on the power rating

I also don't feel there is an attendance problem with the Men's BB Tourney, either.

They have rule that if you play 3 or more games at a site you can’t play there, also when reading the rule book the host team doesn’t play in the regional they host (this look to be mainly a first two rounds thing).

The Final Four being at a NFL stadium basically ruined that part of the tournament

Based on current NPI, which I know will have some changes, and assuming the AHA champ will have the lowest overall NPI, I would design my bracket like this:

Albany, NY - (1) Michigan vs (4) AHA Champ, (2) Dartmouth vs (3) Penn St.

Loveland, CO - (1) Western Michigan vs (4) UConn, (2) Denver vs (3) Wisconsin

Worcester, MA - (1) Michigan St. vs (4) UMass, (2) Providence vs (3) Cornell

Sioux Falls, SD - (1) North Dakota vs (4) St. Thomas, (2) Minnesota-Duluth vs (3) Quinnipiac

I think the only way to avoid UMD is if they beat DU. I don't think the committee will put 2 and 5 together.

Will honestly be annoying if they are in the same bracket.  5OT is still a scar.

I would be annoyed to face UMD in the regionals too because they are a good team and the 5OT game we had with them did leave a scar for a lot of us. But, imagine repaying the favor back to them in the regionals. That could be a fun experience. Risk brings reward

I know there will be someone complaining about how only 1 CCHA team makes it out of 4 with 20 wins. And they will bring up how the calculations should start once you get 20 wins………,

From yatc, we know Duluth is 5 if they win and 7 or 8 if they lose.  Whether it's 7 or 8 depends on the ECAC.  If either Dartmouth or Cornell win, they jump Duluth, pushing them down to 8.  If one of the longshots wins, Duluth is 7.  What the committee would do with it in either event is anyone's guess.
