NCHC Battle for 1st - DU @ UND

Huge weekend.
1st vs 2nd in the NCHC.
NPI 2nd vs 11th

UND just took 4 of 6 points on the road at CC.
DU just got throttled by WMU at home and are now winless in their last 5 games.

DU is gonna come in hungry for any NCHC points.  They are led in points by two JR dmen (not often that you see that) Pohlkamp and Buckberger.

Hopefully UND can take care of business at home and send DU back home to Denver with their winless streak intact.

This can seem like I'm getting ahead of myself, but IMO, there's an extra level of importance, given that Denver hosts a regional. Felt like this when they played Omaha as well. UND can do their part in making Denver start to feel a bit uncomfortable with their NPI with a couple of good results this weekend.

Miller looked a bit off this past weekend against WMU. He may be coming back down to earth a bit after his hot start. Need to come out flying and get plenty of rubber on him in the first 10 minutes.

 

Think this team is going to be amped up to play a top tier opponent at home.

Nope, UNO is hosting the regional. UND is hosting the Frozen Four in Vegas.

All that matters is that Sioux Falls is a great location for our fans.

Definitely. UNO looks like a very long shot for the tourney, so we'll have a chance to take that place over if we get sent there.

Probably getting ahead of ourselves. Curb the enthusiasm and take car of business. DU will be like wounded animals.

With Western off this weekend, and then at Duluth next weekend this is a great opportunity to get out to a big lead in the NCHC standings.  In a perfect world UND could have a double digit lead over the likes of the Pios, the Broncos, and the Dawgs when all is said and done Saturday night.  

Lets hope for a split in Stearns county this weekend as well.  From this point on splits by all teams other than us are a positive.

I'll say UND gets 4+ this weekend.  Tough to believe the Pios could go on a 7 game winless run, but I wouldn't mind seeing it this weekend.
