It would be a good arena for a regional again. I saw something a while ago about a ECHL team moving in there. There’s been chatter about trying to bring in a minor league hockey team or even a junior hockey team but nothing has ever materialized. I heard that NAHL team they got someplace up in northern Colorado a year or two ago has already folded. I’d like to think a city the size of the Springs could support another hockey team of some sort. World Arena is definitely showing its age both inside and out. Quote

Most of the teams in the same areas of them on those charts are top-15 in the NPI so Hopefully they don’t “find” their metrics this coming weekend. Oh yah, we’ve seen games where they look like they can definitely hang with the big boys. Games against legit teams like UConn, Denver, and Duluth. But they seem so dang inconsistent from one night to the next. 1 Quote

Springs was always great at filling World Arena in my experience so I agree, maybe just need a face lift on it Quote

It’s a big ask having college kids drive twenty minutes from campus for a two game series and an even bigger ask when the product on the ice is terrible. The low point for my wife and I as season ticket holders and fans was the night oh, around 2019 or so, when the CC mascot (Prowler) came out on the ice to start the DU/CC game and forgot to take off his skate guards. Embarrassing. It made the Pios fans’ night watching that calamity and was a precursor for what was to come once the puck dropped. 2 Quote

I’ll be there decked out in UND green (wife will be in gold and black; can’t convince her to cheer for the good guys!). I’ll be the guy in a sling (dislocated my elbow in a beer league game three weeks ago; coincidentally on the ice at Robson Arena). It's Tiger Week. Biennial Tony's Takeover starting at 4PM Friday. I'll be the guy wearing the crispy white NODAK Strinden jersey. Come say hi and put a drink on my tab. Heck, put two drinks on my tab. Tony's Bar is a walkable distance to the rink for those in town looking for a fun, family friendly atmosphere to enjoy some pregame festivities. It's been a long two years living here in Springs since the last time the boys were in town. Hearing that goofy CC goal song a total of thirteen times that weekend still gives me a headache when I think about it. I'm confident this year will be different. This team is different. Some might even say this team is nails. Bring your brooms. LET'S GO SIOUX. 1 6 Quote

Inherent conflict for you. If CC wins, you’ll be bummed, but your chances of getting lucky will probably take a big jump. Life can be cruel that way. Or maybe that’s life being kind . . . . 3 Quote
Popular Post Godsmack Posted yesterday at 06:20 PM Popular Post Posted yesterday at 06:20 PM People always get indignant and ask how I could possibly root against my alma mater and in particular, cheer for North Dakota of all programs. I simply tell them that if they have to ask, there’s no amount of explaining that will make them understand. 9 Quote

Ah, yeah I was going to school in the springs back in the Scott Owens era circa 2005-2009. That's where all my memories are from. I was so impressed they could fill an arena in the middle of nowhere(well, in a movie theater parking lot at least). All this nostalgia is making me miss C Springs, next year I plan to make the trip to see the new arena assuming we have a road series. 1 Quote
burd Posted yesterday at 06:38 PM Posted yesterday at 06:38 PM If I remember correctly, UND’s first home game in Ralph I was against a Jeff Sauer-coached CC team. Quote
