ND-fan Posted 22 hours ago Posted 22 hours ago We just let something slip away from us today a chance to go semifinals as well as maybe to play in national championship game. I know everyone is on OC but it still comes down to head coach. We don’t who was making final decisions on who played quarterback but I gave gut feeling it was Schmidt fro his response since last week about Kaminski. Schmidt brought in Johnson and hoped he would become starter but he looked part but wasn’t nearly ready to play quarterback but Kaminski was next based on his physical abilities and he was chosen over Romfo not one you would choose looking at quarterback selections. Kaminski looked great for first half of the season but things started falling apart because our opponents picked up they could confuse him and saw he didn’t make audibles now did OC have right to replace him for learning moment or that was not option. My final thought Schmidt comment about Simon not leaving this was his hope not you would ever get true answer out of him on that. Yes we will need another option avatar quarterback but what does that do with quarterback room and ability to recruit for future. We need quarterback coach with experience and has confidence OC and Head coach. But this loss today was really chance to reach our optimal goal and I believe we gave it away with playing player that was not ready to play and may have been playing hurt from concussion. This makes extremely disappointed because we got rid of coach that refused to move forward on things and now I see beginnings of this again only in different way he may prove me wrong in future everyone thinks he will just have be better with his future players but opportunities lost may never appear again I ve watched this happen in sports most of life. He continues to chose that route vs the same defense even though nothing good has come from him throwing it since week 4. Opponents are baiting him into it so it’s as much on him as the OC 1 Quote

Offensive creativity was putrid. Jr. HS level innovation. It was execution, I am completely guessing that Schmidt doesn’t want a playbook of trickery rather than physical dominance and simple execution Quote
Sioux04 Posted 22 hours ago Posted 22 hours ago The OC needs to go...not even debatable in my mind. I am fine with Jerry if he earns the position next year. 3 Quote

When Fruechte/Jerry were mixing in good results along with a few struggles that's acceptable back and forth in college football. Looking incompetent is unacceptable. 3 Quote

UND-FB-FAN Posted 22 hours ago Author Posted 22 hours ago 34 minutes ago, shep said: Talk of getting rid of OC along with QB doesn’t make sense to me. NO ONE talked of dumping OC when QB was good. Must get a Championship QB then see what OC does, Also, Online was way overrated Well it should. The OC was “good” when UND was playing poorer competition to start the season. That’s clear. There was then signifiant regression after that against the competition that UND needs to be good against to get to where they ultimately want to go. For example, today, UND gave the ball only 5 times to Gaven Ziebarth despite him averaging 9.4 yards per carry! On the flip side, they let Kaminski (coming off a concussion) run 11 times as their leading ball carrier. He was awful in the passing game. It’s time for a change (or at least open competition) at quarterback. There needs to be a different direction at offensive coordinator if we can secure someone that Schmidt has more faith in. The idea that they need a championship QB first and then see what OC does is really quite controversial … the QB play is largely a product of the work arranged by the OC/QB coach (same person here). The OC shares the blame 50/50 as far as I’m concerned. And having a better QB won’t address the critical play-calling concerns and personnel misuse… 1 2 Quote
