UND just put a ton of new looks and wrinkles on tape that MVFC DCs need to be aware of. It almost forces a D to switch to man coverage when 11 or 6 is in the slot; if they stay in zone, step back, backwards pass, and slot QB has RPO with the opposite side receiver running post and near side running shallow cross (ready to block). Observant point. It was Schleusner that told me that strategy years back. Before a big game, or prior to conference, throw so many looks on film that DCs don't have enough practice time in the week to prepare for them all. 2 5 Quote

It was close to two decades ago @PCM was advocating "two QBs on the field at once" to me as a disrupter to the defense preparation. I believe it was the FB "Brock-star" era. 1 3 Quote

JTJ has not looked fhat great, and to be honest if Jerry got hurt and we needed a drive in the last two minutes of the game to come back and win...Simon may give us the best shot right now. I agree with it being Jerry, JTJ, Sulik in that order behind Jerry....but if we desperately needed a drive to win the game and Jerry was out.... backups qb's with backups is not a true measure of a qb....could be saying thing about jerry if jtj was the starter. 1 Quote

They actually have Nate DeMontagnac as the main photo on the sports page. There is a picture of Simon, which accompanies the article that was written about him where he asked the coaches what he can do to help the team and they added a few wrinkles for him to put some extra things on tape for other teams to prepare for. The new head coach also states a lot of the same thing we heard last year: Quote "I just love and appreciate that kid so much for what he’s about," head coach Eric Schmidt said. "It’s not about him. There’s a difference between having a big ego and having a strong ego; he wants to make our team as good as he can make it, and he believes that he can help us do that in a lot of different ways. So it was great to be able to see him get out there and help our football team." "I love Simon Romfo," Schmidt said. "There’s not a more selfless guy. He loves to compete. It has nothing to do with size and speed, all those things, measurables that you get to measure. He has more intangibles than maybe anybody on our team. He’s endeared himself to our team. Guys want to play with him, and play for him." 1 4 Quote

Popular Post The Sicatoka Posted 1 hour ago Popular Post Posted 1 hour ago If you're gonna bemoan something, how about Schmidt drinking a Fresca at the post-game presser. It's just as consequential. 5 Quote

SIOUXFAN97 Posted 53 minutes ago Posted 53 minutes ago these warm and fuzzy stories go hand and hand with a 53% winning percentage and 1 playoff win over the last 10 or so years. he wouldn't even make the team down south ike is currently 7-9 as oc.....just saying Quote
The Sicatoka Posted 50 minutes ago Posted 50 minutes ago If they are going to show this look, Simon and Jerry each has to catch a ball to get it on film or they'll drop coverage. 1 2 Quote

Danny Freund said that he wanted to find ways to get him on the field 2yrs ago when Schuster was our starting QB. Are you that delusional that you think so many others closer to the program think Simon will help them. What do you have against Simon? 1 Quote

There is not a program in the Country that doesn't want to up their talent level. The fact is that we have who we have right now and the coaching staff needs to use what they have to win as many game as possible. All indications are Simon has been a great teammate since he has got here. Just because the previous coaching staff made him the starting QB last year is not his fault. He did the best that he could. Now he is doing all the he can to help the team win. We loved the Brockstar package and when Quincy V would come in and run QB sneak, but when Simon wants to help and the coaches put in packages for him some people have a problem. Simon is a team player and the way he gets crapped on by people on this site is gross and sickening. You may say you have nothing against him personally, but you clearly do. Let it go. Your guy is QB1. Enjoy it. Looks like Jerry is clearly the best QB this year, and I'm surprised the completion was that close in Fall Camp. It as if you want Schimidt to call and tell the Herald who they should put on the front of the page. I guarantee no one on the team cares, they just want to win. 1 1 Quote
GoodGood Posted 11 minutes ago Posted 11 minutes ago Simon said his buddy suggested he ask the coaches to switch positions. Does his buddy know more than the coaches 🤔🤔🤔 Quote

Then let it go. I think you are smart enough to know that your comments seem personal. I don’t know if your obsession with Jerry is cuz you are personal friends, related, or a man crush. I would think you are better than that. Jerry has earned the starting position and I believe it’s because he gives us the best chance to win. The coaches also believe that. Last year they didn’t think he was ready. I lot of us thought Feeney would be the starter last year. None of that matters anymore. If the coaches have a plan to utilize Simon in multiple roles, it’s because they believe that would give us a better chance to win. Regardless of how they plan to utilize him, he has already proven he belongs. In answer to your question, yes I’ve watched a couple of the UND and the NDSU games. Quote
