He has put up serious numbers playing in front of some talented offensive MG teams, but not very good defensively. Think about what he could do with our D recruits coming in the next 2-3 years? Gophers, Duluth & St. Cloud are on him like Edina kids on cake. One of his former teammates from MG committed to the Gophers last year, hopefully a new coach coming in & uncertainty will steer him away from Minny & north to the Sioux. Edina kids on cake. That’s good stuff.

Herter and Finley were low, but the rest have 100+, 200+, 100+ and is becoming a permanent staple and Schmaltz is becoming more important. Of course NHL teams want LOADS of games from their first rounders, but most of these player have had and will have good NHL careers.

The uncertainty in the short term could be a possibility, but going forward, I think if they got rid of Lucia and his arrogance, I would bet that a lot of the recruits they are losing might flow back Minnesota's way. I suppose that depends on who they would get to replace him, but here's to having Lucia hang around like a Red Berenson clone!

The Exiled One
Here's the NTDP Eval Camp invite list. At some point in a different thread somebody complimented Motzko on his ability to recruit without the benefits of the REA or the history of UND. He has zero recruits being considered for the NTDP. I'm not complaining about this because it backs up my point: SCSU doesn't compete with UND for recruits. You win every one of those battles. Look at where the kids on this list are committed... those are the schools competing with UND for recruits. Motzko is a good recruiter, but he (and his staff) are phenomenal scouts and coaches. He finds the players that UND, Minnesota, UMD, Notre Dame, and USA Hockey miss. Still, plenty of uncommitted kids on this list to keep an eye on, but none from Minnesota or North Dakota. All of them have already committed.
