Just hoping Vancouver doesn't draft him.

I'd put money on them taking Malhotra (or another forward if McKenna or Stenberg fall).  Definitely have a headstart on the back end with Buium and Willander in terms of their rebuild.

For what it’s worth, Ryan Johnson is a UND alum and was just announced as Vancouvers new GM.

True…but man, that franchise is in a rough spot. They may want to delay a year (maybe two) to continue to stack high enders. Would be a tough slot to be a dman next year. He’d be going for the green jacket for sure.

I agree with you. I had heard from an unreal source about 2 weeks ago that he was coming here…however that same source also noted that he’s the one def in this draft that could log some nhl games next year.

I too think he would have delayed this announcement if he was heavily leaning towards signing.

I would be slightly nervous if the chatter of him signing right away continued after his commitment. As of today, he has decided to hold off until next spring to turn pro. I think he was weighing his options, including pro, over the last month or so and this was his decision. I think a lot changed once he actually got on campus.

A lot of chatter about the Rangers taking Carels. I would think that would be good for us.

I think so too. Maybe it's time I get over the JT Miller situation with them.

Drury is a college guy. Chance to see what Carels can do against a step up in competition, for free. I could see the staff pairing him with Emery, which would be fun for the Rangers.

With the talent on the blue line, I think MacKenzie is really flying under the radar.  I won't be terribly surprised if he's the best college D-man on the team next year.  He does have close to 2 years on CC and KV.

Agree.  MacKenzie is a wildcard in this lineup.   But don't undersell Laurila either.   He was looking really good by season's end last year.    Given he has a year of NCAA experience under his belt, it wouldn't surprise me if he was paired with. say, Verhoeff to start the season.

Verhoeff-Laurila

Carels-Emery

MacKenzie-Boser

Completely agree on Laurila. By the end of the season he was looking pretty dynamic.
