RhettRingers Posted 1 hour ago Posted 1 hour ago Was told there is no room for DuPont, and we didn't want to get into a bidding war with other schools. My sources have been pretty tight lipped lately. My guess is DuPont will be going to Michigan or Minnesota. Quote

They already have two RHD who will be expecting a lot of minutes. Same boat as us really with Emery and Verhoeff Fiddler isn’t DuPont, Lin or Macbeth. He’s a semi interesting project given his size. He’s fairly mobile, D is a work in progress though. He should be there 3-4 years…not that he will, but he should be. Quote

Well, if Minnesota gets that foot in the door that would suck based on their hatred of Canadians. 1 Quote

If you're dialed in on this take I personally hope it's MN. Tarin Smith's d partner and there's still some wiggle room for Larson on D and F. Quote

I do not think Carels would officially announce a commitment and sign his aid if he might not even go. I also think UND would prefer if his commitment was not announced until after the draft if he wasn’t fully committed. He could still get 10-20 games in the NHL next season, similar to Martone, and it really only is like a 9 month commitment. 2 Quote
brianvf Posted 1 hour ago Posted 1 hour ago Character kid raised on a farm in Manitoba? I can't see him going thru with announcing a commitment to a team just to leave this fall before playing a game at UND. Kid hasn't even turned 18yo yet. Would imagine whatever NHL team drafts him would want to see how the youngster would do in a step up in competition first. 1 2 Quote

Would say DuPont has more Makar type upside, but right now, yeah Carels is probably the player to make an impact, but that means little if he doesn’t show up. Quote

With the talent on the blue line, I think MacKenzie is really flying under the radar. I won't be terribly surprised if he's the best college D-man on the team next year. He does have close to 2 years on CC and KV. 1 Quote

I had heard from an unreal source about 2 weeks ago that he was coming here…however that same source also noted that he’s the one def in this draft that could log some nhl games next year. I too think he would have delayed this announcement if he was heavily leaning towards signing. 1 Quote

MSU gobbling everything up. Hage still there, Mich needs to make another push. DuPont would make some sense. Quote
burd Posted 1 hour ago Posted 1 hour ago We after talk about how chippas want TOI and may prefer a team that is not already stocked with chippas at their position. Aside from PP and PK time, what is the usual difference in TOI between first and second lines? I’m sure it varies quite a bit, but we all seem to operate under the assumption that the difference is meaningful. Quote

First/second line forwards seem to play similar minutes. #1D, or top two D seem to have the ability to play substantially more than second D pairing guys. As shown last year (Livanavage), if you have a 200 foot two-way force at D, they play a lot. Quote
burd Posted 1 hour ago Posted 1 hour ago Thanks for the informative response, as15. What site is that from? I’m not able to see column headers and see if or how PP and PK time figures in. Quote
tnt Posted 1 hour ago Posted 1 hour ago 25 minutes ago, RhettRingers said: I think a lot of you are under estimating how good Lindberg and MacKenzie are. I’m not. Mackenzie was the one who saw the most ice time in the World Juniors last year compared to Verhoeff and Carels, and Lindberg was playing 2/3 of the game for a reason. That said, if Carels didn’t come, that wouldn’t make our team better by replacing with a last minute guy when you possibly could have had a Rudolph or DuPont. Like others have said, I choose to hope that Carels will show up and prove it at this level, then if he has an amazing year, can possibly play a game or two with the NHL team that drafts him after we win the National Championship.
