So the defensive coach is making the offensive decisions (while he's coaching the defense) and the OC is getting fired? You lost me on this one. 

If that was accurate, why would there have been a QB competition? Wouldn't it have been handed to the guy who the HC watched last year?

So a transfer hasn't worked out yet even though a game hasn't been played (first time in the history of college sports), a different QB is taking snaps, the season is derailed already and the OC's job is on the line. 

Impressive sky is falling 4 days before the opening kickoff! 

Also, not sure what you consider big bucks, but in the grand scheme of things, no one is getting rich off NIL at UND. It's a nice kicker to help the student athletes out, but it isn't life changing money like the P4 level.

Your anger would make more sense if they named JTJ the starter. He was brought in and paid, but didn’t win the job.

Me Mongo, me pawn in game of life. Me thinks the talk of 3 QB’s is to recognize the efforts they put in. Reality is Simon is a senior. The other two are under classmen. If Simon was head and shoulders superior he would start. If Simon is similar or less to the younger QB’s, you go with youth so they can improve under fire. I think it will be Jerry and Javance in just as the SU’s have used their back up QB’s. 
 

Unless blowout wins or losses I can’t imagine 3 QB’s playing. Coming in Schmidt would have to focus on defense because the last few years that has been more of a liability than the offense. 
 

Hypothetically Schmidt kept the OC to retain the offensive pieces and get his OC guy for year two….and for me Mongo that’s too much thought. So me thinks to watch Saturday, along with rest of season and see if Schmidty Ball is an improvement from Bubba Ball.

You’re not that wrong about the pass catchers. I wont sell out the qbs til I see multiple games though. Sometimes guys flourish in games.

Bums me out. Lot of names that I think/want to be good. Deng, Fleming, Hoskins, Tai, Behymer. I suppose most of those are unknowns or have some many flashes but no consistency and that’s why I’m hopeful.

I think its hard to grad the pass catchers since we have some many new ones getting a chance its hard to grade a group that is 75% new.

I’ve been pessimistic about the defense, I think it will take a couple of years to rebuild. With that being said, I do not think it’s possible for the defense to be worse than last year. There will be some improvement; even if it’s only slight for year one.
