I'm smelling a huge settlement here. If indeed it was only 2 punches it seems justified to me. If you are going to run your mouth drunk or not you might get punched in the face. If you have a weak jaw it might get busted. IMO it would be different if he sat on top of him and whaled away. Of course the law might say different, but the guy got what he deserved. 2 Quote
nascar99 Posted 6 hours ago Posted 6 hours ago I trust McMahon's source here, so it wasn't just reckless underage drinking from McKenna, appears to be a team/family gathering at a bar/restaurant Quote
brucespook Posted 6 hours ago Posted 6 hours ago It happened outside so if He followed the ass outside then he might be in trouble Quote
atxsioux Posted 5 hours ago Posted 5 hours ago Spitball guessing but think he would likely be suspended 4 games? If so that is 2 games at Michigan and 2 home games vs Ohio state. If it would turn into 6 games that would mean he's gone for 2 games at Notre Dame. 4 of those could be pairwise killers with losses so could impact them alot. Quote

It could, although I expect them to win at minimum 3 of those 6 Quote

Blackheart Posted 4 hours ago Posted 4 hours ago Just saw this on GPL; guy said he got this from Twitter/Reddit. New Information: According to an affidavit of probable cause obtained from the office of Magisterial District Judge Casey McClain, officers were dispatched to Mount Nittany Medical Center on January 31 to speak with a patient being treated for injuries from the assault. Hospital staff informed police that the victim had been punched in the face and suffered fractures on both sides of his jaw that required surgery. Upon arrival, officers observed significant swelling, dried blood, and a missing tooth, and said the victim was in substantial pain and had difficulty speaking. Two friends in the room told officers that McKenna punched the victim twice on the right side of his face after an exchange of words between their group and McKenna’s group. Witnesses said the assault occurred around 8:45 p.m. in front of the Pugh Street Parking Garage and recalled seeing blood on the sidewalk afterward. They also suspected McKenna and his group had been coming from Doggie’s Pub following a hockey event after Penn State’s game at Beaver Stadium. Police reviewed State College Borough street camera footage that they say shows McKenna throwing two punches at the victim, causing him to stumble backward. Additional video reportedly captured McKenna leaving Doggie’s Pub shortly before the incident and walking eastbound on East Beaver Avenue before turning south on South Garner Street. In the footage, McKenna was observed wearing a white backwards hat, a puffer jacket, jeans, and white sneakers. Officers also photographed blood at the scene. The victim underwent surgery on February 2 to repair the jaw fractures and his jaw will be wired shut for approximately two weeks unless further medical intervention is required. Quote
atxsioux Posted 4 hours ago Posted 4 hours ago What's the point of having Pat Brison as an agent if he can't work out handing the kid a nice lump sum to sign an NDA. Quote
tnt Posted 3 hours ago Posted 3 hours ago This is a good teaching opportunity for coaches across the country. We’ve seen the rhetoric on message boards about certain players, and especially elite players. The consequences for them is very high, so hopefully coaches will let their players know that they will be verbal targets. We saw back in the day what happened at bars and parties between members of teams from different sports, so stuff like this shouldn’t be so shocking. I’m kind of caught between on this, as I don’t want to condone McKenna’s actions, but I also don’t think people have a license to harass and try and push athletes over the edge, possibly for a payout. How would I feel if it was a UND player in this circumstance? Most likely I would be mad at the player for going over the line during a possible championship run, but I also would understand that they are young and that there are idiots out there trying to push them over the edge. 2 1 Quote

Blackheart Posted 3 hours ago Posted 3 hours ago 1 hour ago, UNDMOORHEAD said: The guy that got punched could've also followed them outside. From what I've read, the guy harassing McKenna got kicked out of the bar and decided to wait until McKenna came out to confront him. Quote
burd Posted 3 hours ago Posted 3 hours ago A friend of mine was a two- time all American linebacker known for his intensity on the field. He shared how common it was in bars, weight rooms, etc., for guys wanting to mess it up with him—pure testosterone behavior. That doesn’t excuse violent behavior, but I’m guessing well known male athletes have to deal with stupid alpha dog behaviors a lot. Quote

That puts a different spin on it, and it would seem he was looking for an incident. Have to see how the actual facts come out, but waiting outside for confrontation puts a different light on things for me. Quote
brianvf Posted 2 hours ago Posted 2 hours ago This account says that Mckenna and his fam left the bar and the "punchee" followed them outside to continue harassment. Quote
OopsSioux Posted 2 hours ago Posted 2 hours ago As far as I'm concerned if the link brianvf shared turns out to be accurate I'm down with McKenna being acquitted of all charges. Douchebaggery should not be rewarded with settlements or otherwise and the douchebags shouldn't be surprised when capable people actually give them what they're asking for. 3 Quote
The Sicatoka Posted 2 hours ago Posted 2 hours ago You are wrong if you threw the first punch, no matter what was said. The first physical action is what the law looks at. Broken jaw in two places. What if the punchee had gone head on concrete and died? Still no big deal? For reference: https://www.kxnet.com/news/fargo-man-sentenced-for-fatal-punch-outside-bar/ 4 Quote

For reference: https://www.kxnet.com/news/fargo-man-sentenced-for-fatal-punch-outside-bar/ You are not wrong and your point is well taken, but Darren Patterson is really not comparable. He had a history of fighting and bullying, there were photos of Patterson wearing a shirt that said "Talk !@#$, Get Hit", and he was arguably the instigator because when they were both kicked out of the Ho-Do, he walked towards the victims and hit them both. I'm very familiar with that case because I was involved in the civil lawsuit. Quote

The Sicatoka Posted 1 hour ago Posted 1 hour ago Does "Powers of PSU" believe this helps? Quote Gavin had to be restrainted inside the restaurant by @PennStateMHKY teammates. Physical aggressor? Quote The McKenna’ then left the restaurant to avoid the scene when the “victim” followed them into the parking lot. He approached Mrs McKenna when Gavin cold cocked the dude. One punch. Cold cocked? Like first blow? Quote
SJHovey Posted 1 hour ago Posted 1 hour ago Any truth to the rumor this is the first person McKenna has hit since arriving on the PSU campus? 1 1 Quote
