They waited until after the Frozen Four, so that points to Herter. But it could be someone else mentioned by others here

They also waited until USHL regular seasons were over, and the AHL and NHL were in their final week. Posting closes next Monday when regular seasons will be over. So I don’t think it automatically means Herter.

NTDP doesn’t play playoffs right? Did their season end this week too? Signs point to Herter or Fohr timing-wise.

2022-23 they did (I'm guessing the U17 team played)

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • 7 seasons of a combination of collegiate/juniors hockey coaching experience or professional hockey playing experience.
  • Experience recruiting players and/or student-athletes for hockey teams. <- Malone's shortcoming
  • Valid Driver's License.
  • Successful completion of a criminal history background check (CHBC).

I see an American with ties to USA Hockey selected.

Is this still hope for Raboin??

All kidding aside, I do like this line of thinking.

Herter would probably be a good get as well.

You can get around that, as he can say he helped recruit to his Major Junior team.   That being said, don't think you would have him coming in as an associate head coach with that salary with that little experience.   There may be others that fit the bill outside the UND circle, but within the circle, Smaby and Herter seem to be the candidates if interested.

In my opinion Herter would be one of the better options. Not sure if he is ready to move on from Western Michigan, I would think he would, but tough to say what his long term goals are. Does he plan to continue coaching or is he thinking about leaving sometime in the next couple years. You would think if he is thinking strategically, that if he comes to UND and on the chance things don't work out for Jax, he would be the heir apparent to replace Jax. We know he applied for the HC job so he at least was interested in that.

If things don't work out for Jackson, don't know if the administration would continue to pull from within the current coaches on staff like they did this time.  At some point you go for a young coach and do a complete overhaul.

Anyone know what Herter’s salary is at WMU?
