I think Dane knew that the locker room issues were made public (mainly from gossip) and that players were already “leaving” in January. I don’t know why but when he said “culture” I took it as “I’m not putting up with that sh$# anymore and we are getting our identity back”. I feel like from now on we are going to see teams that are very physical but also play with perfection. that’s just me though 5 Quote

However, the guy we chose has been a part of the "culture" for 19 years, he's as much a part of the culture as Bubba was. If he felt this was out of whack at Christmas time, why wasn't something done? If we weren't "talented" enough, who's on the hook for finding players? I get it, there is always a new/fresh start for the program when we hire a new head coach, let's hope the tides turn. But, what did we change, really? 1 Quote

DamStrait Posted April 5 Posted April 5 I am encouraged that our new coach realizes that fundamental changes to the hockey operation organization are needed to stay in front of the ever- changing college athletics landscape. Also, I suspect that the oft panned term “culture” was in former times termed “identity” - really just semantics - and really not something over which one should obsess. My <<<<$0.02. Quote

.357 Posted April 5 Posted April 5 He also said that he wants players who want to be at UND, not because of money or to use the program as a stepping stone. I get what he's saying, but at the same time, if you want a stud like McKenna who will give your program nationwide attention & draw many other talented players here as well, UND's going to need one of its private donors to shell out some major bucks. 4 Quote

PK sucked all year. That was Jackson’s responsibility. What changes did he make to improve it? And to defend Berry, rare here, unlike football & basketball, HC in hockey does not do the bulk of the recruiting, it is the asst coaches. So if these past players were soft, or not as talented, or weren’t Sioux to the core, Jackson was the head offensive recruiter. What is going to change with his *new* culture. Was he not recruiting these type of players the last 5+ years? I’m here with all of you, so I love UND & Sioux hockey & want it to be the best program in the country. FULL stop. But, when I have had to fire bad managers/employees, there is always one Eddie Haskel chirping “I knew Larry wasn’t doing his job! He was a bad leader. Etc, etc.” I always ask, what did YOU do to fix things? And why didn’t you tell me this before we fired Larry?? It’s always too convenient to blame the guy that took the bullet in the head. The Merchant Marine’s moto is “Acta non Verba”, which means deeds, not words. Sums it up for me. Quote
