ChadR Posted Friday at 08:24 PM Posted Friday at 08:24 PM Assuming Herter got a nice raise with Fersch's new contract. Would $250k get him here as Associate Head? I like that they aren't rushing that hire. Quote

Agree that Herter would be a big bonus, but maybe an asst who pushes a modern offense for a team stuck in dump-&-chase mode would be better suited. Quote

nascar99 Posted Saturday at 12:18 AM Posted Saturday at 12:18 AM Watched the interview Jackson did with Taylor Budge, honestly more excited about him now, just a different voice gives me some optimism. Berry had gotten quite stale so this is nice at least for now. 2 Quote
SIOUXELEVENS Posted Saturday at 12:32 AM Posted Saturday at 12:32 AM I like how he keeps repeating they will play fast and hard , hopefully his message gets through to the players Quote

So it’s not really a plan, it’s just what most coaches say they want of their athletes. 2 Quote

tnt Posted Saturday at 01:29 AM Posted Saturday at 01:29 AM If UND hires Chyzyk as many hope, and have retained Simpson, having an on-ice coach to work with the forwards might be the way to go. If they want someone to demonstrate that work ethic and hard nosed play, Brad Malone could be a very good fit. Years in the NHL, and now experience coaching in Major Juniors would give them another recruiting angle. That would be a pretty well rounded staff. Be interesting to see when Oshawa’s season ends. 3 Quote

I'd like the assistants to have a combined coaching experience of 10 years not 3 with Simpson (2), Malone (1) and Chyzyk (0, he's been a scout and GM for 6). Quote

I’m sure Malone’s long NHL career he has learned from tons of coaches, nevermind tricks of the trade he could pass on to the forwards. I would call that real world experience. He is very well respected veteran, and I suspect would get that kind of respect from the players as well. Quote

It's not like Malone would be in charge of line-ups, recruiting, discipline or setting the overall tone of the program like Jackson is..simply helping the forwards elevate their games & incorporating a more puck-controlled offense. 1 Quote

I just did, it's been a busy week. I listened to the presser again today; there was much to digest. F, yeah, comes to mind. Jackson is intense. He's going to work hard every day, and he expects the same from his coaches and players. Playing on a sports team is a lot like battling with your battle buddies. I don't feel they had that this year. It seemed like they had 23 guys going all different directions. You can't have people going in different directions. The culture is going to change. 6 Quote
