Maybe he’s just done with hockey…

I had heard speculation that he might indeed just call it quits.  Not saying that's the mostly likely outcome but it sounded like something that was definitely being considered.

I hope not. He was not a bad goalie. This transfer environment is tough though. An underclassmen calling it quits for putting up avg numbers. Let’s go Hobie, time to shine!

I also hope he gives it another shot someplace else. It just didn't work out here; that happens sometimes.

Yeah, even more mature kids of college age just don't have the depth of life experience to deal well with discouraging or disheartening experiences.    Hope he gives it another shot and that he's got some good support people close to him.

Goalie situation set for a few years now:

Quote

UND's 2025-26 goalies will be Arizona State transfer Gibson Homer, Špunar and Minnesota Duluth transfer Zach Sandy of Fargo.
Committed recruit Caleb Heil will return to Madison in the USHL for one more season, then come to campus in the fall of 2026.

Homer has two years of eligibility left, but UND has to be prepared for the possibility of him signing after one. At 6-foot-6, he's an NHL-style goaltender and his career save percentage of .924 is attention-grabbing. Homer also is expected to have a degree by then.

Either way, Heil will be in Grand Forks in 2026.

Yes, and we have all seen that he has had flashes of brilliance, otherwise we wouldn't have seen people calling for Berry to be putting him in the net rather than TJ.  Goaltending is all about confidence, and when he had it, he was good.

Wasn't a rookie, but always love referencing Field of Dreams.

I know he's probably not coming in next season, but watched a bit of the U-18 game vs. Latvia and Garrett Linberg impresses me so much every time with his hockey sense.  If you go to the 45 second mark right away in the highlight package the first goal that Potter scores is all about the indirect pass that Linberg makes when he doesn't have a great lane to the net.

A year in the ushl will be huge for him.

https://www.grandforksherald.com/sports/und-hockey/und-ranks-first-in-north-american-hockey-attendance-outside-the-nhl

Quote

UND drew more fans per home game last season than any North American hockey team outside of the NHL.
An average of 11,614 attended UND's 18 regular-season home games in Ralph Engelstad Arena.

It ranked No. 1 among college hockey teams for the 11th consecutive season.

It also ranked ahead of any American Hockey League, ECHL, Western Hockey League, Ontario Hockey League and Quebec Maritimes Junior Hockey League team. The Cleveland Monsters of the AHL, the top affiliate of the NHL's Columbus Blue Jackets, were second at 11,438. The University of Wisconsin was third with 10,461.

UND also outdrew one NHL team — the Utah Hockey Club. Utah averaged 11,131.

Gordon is a solid forward addition.  Jax and Bryn have made some good moves in the portal and recruiting trail.
Now I'd just love to see a high end CHL forward prospect to tie it all together.  Add in a SR and/or FR dman to balance out the d-corps a bit and we'll be set.

Forwards (13):
SR - Strinden, James, Rickwood
JR - Menghini, Gordon
SO - Swanson, Littler, Croal, Andrew
FR - Zellers, Klee, Zakreski, Kernan

Defense (7):
SR -
JR - Zmolek, Livanavage, Wiebe
SO - Emery, Strathmann, Jubenvill
FR - Laurila

Goalies (3):
SR - Sandy (RS possibility)
JR - Homer
SO -
FR - Spunar

Other current committed recruits that could come in this fall: D - Lindberg, F - O'Neill, Schultz, Simpson

Captains:

James, Strinden, Zmolek, Livanavage?

Along with Strinden and Croal, well done 1883 collective!

When the Collective states that these players have signed with the 1883, is that a roundabout way of saying that they're being paid to return?

Doubt it in this scenario. We’ve known these guys were coming back for like a month now.

Has he made a decision?

Sounds like automatically assuming the B1G school will win the recruiting battles.

Seeing way too much of that on this forum.

Like I've said before, time to get our swagger back as a program.

Was wondering what it means then when a player signs with a collective.

Pritchard will be a Gopher  - visited UND last Wednesday and UM on Thursday

How did you hear about this?

UND has only 2 forward positions open. Would think that they'd be at least trying to land a high-scoring CHL player for 1 of them.
