Interesting attempt. It’s not an argument. You’re grasping for straws and coming up empty handed.

I didn’t realize I had anything to gain from this. On to semantics?

What does this mean? “not much changing” is not how I would put it at all

Offensive staff has changed (new TE coach, new WR coach, new RB coach) and the OC/QB coach and OL coach have been at UND only one season and didn’t have a chance to recruit to their respective positions in 2024.

Since last season, UND football acquired possibly their most highly touted division 1 football player to date (HS offers from Oregon, Florida State, BYU, Arizona State, Kansas, Pittsburgh, Nevada, San Jose State, San Diego State; https://www.grandforksherald.com/sports/college/und-football-snags-san-diego-state-transfer-quarterback?fbclid=IwZXh0bgNhZW0CMTEAAR39Tooldbc4k9y07YpPV35LKgYpmALuX58NKFj5kiBlqUfTOc73d5xfDqc_aem_pyPwi9LXS0HA35hHT8yH9Q), in addition to a great high school athlete from Council Bluffs, IA (https://fightinghawks.com/news/2024/12/4/football-north-dakota-announces-23-additions-during-early-signing-period.aspx)

In addition, Simon Romfo, Jerry Kaminski, and Jack Sulik will be 1-year more experienced in the system. The offensive line will be also largely intact and 1-year more experienced.

I expect the quarterback position as a unit to take a huge step forward in terms of play in 2025 compared to 2024. You all should too.

The offense will improve. The back 7 on D scares me. Probably need a lot of new names to be good enough.

Well you thought you could pretend to know what’s going on and posted with a lot of fake confidence so maybe stick to that?

Hold on now, are you predicting there will be a few more defensive players brought in?

I agree but it was strange to go from Schuster as the QB with Romfo packages, and Vaughn packages. Last year Quincy got his few short yardage chances but Jerry didn’t see the field unless we were up by 85 points and he still had to down the ball for fear he might look good. Half the coaching staff lost their jobs over the implosion.

Many reasons the coaching staff lost their jobs, including something that had little to do with the quarterback position: the defense was atrocious; no excuse for what the 2024 defense did against Youngstown State, Indiana State, and Illinois State. Fireable actions and glad change finally occurred albeit in a soft “golden parachute” fashion that only UND athletics could pull off …

Agreed - good thing new names arriving between now and August is almost guaranteed.

Everyone contribute to the collective (https://1883collective.com).

Bright future for UND football …

I am just glad the change was made. However, it could have been made less painfully if Chaves hadn't given that hair-brained extension to Bubba last March.

Winning is something that Chaves just doesn’t seem to care about, I don’t get it either.

Herein lies the problem; the overall culture of UND athletics remains a major concern despite the fact the (necessary) football coaching change happened. Hopefully the culture and philosophy of UND athletics will positively change soon, also …

Pretend, guess, predict, see with my own eyes, visit with players, visit with coaches, work with UND and NDSU, and  I also once scored 4 touchdowns in a high school football game…actually the most I scored was 2 but the Al Bundy quote fits.

I think a book could be written about it. It’s been a crazy last 5-10 years for UND athletics.

We will see. I think with same OC and experience he stays and gets the 2nd nod. Scholarship or not there really is no where for anyone on the bubble to go. A few players have left the team the past few weeks that were on scholarship so it does make room for transfers. Someone on here or somewhere did the scholarship math a while  ago.

we will probably find out if the "project 9 man qb" was bubba's idea or fruetche's......if simon starts game one (good lawd) we know freuchte is destined for d3 defensive back coaching spot somewhere at a hyphen school in wisconsin...if simon is cut or 4th string we know it was bubba and look what happended to him.

Johnson is coming in for one reason and  one spot at QB1. Last year sure was odd to watch. I think Simon is two or 3 at the lowest if healthy. I can see Higgins being in the mix if he stays at QB.

@MinnDak anyone leave the last few weeks that would have been an impact player this year?

I think Tieken would have been a better fit in this 4-2 scheme than the 3-4

I know it’s taboo to talk badly about Moorhead but those guys have been busts for most part.  Certainly no high enders of the bunch

Seth Anderson? Will basically end up being an almost 3 year starter on the OL.

Didn’t notice at the time, but Teiken wasn’t mentioned in the 360 preview either. I will say, better before Spring ball.

Any other big names? Teiken going to portal out? Done with football?

@MinnDak you did say before that you didn’t expect any other starters / close to starters to leave. Clearly, you meant from the spring roster (which a guy like Teiken wouldn’t be on)?

Possible he still won't be healed up until the fall?

Teiken was the main one and couple others left. He was the only close to starter I believe. There isn’t much being said after them. Just with the current landscape in football it would be unlikely any of the 1-2 deep finding a new home unless more transfers are brought in on D and scholarships are cut and a player doesn’t see a light at the end of the tunnel. The roster is plenty big but most spots aren’t super deep and anyone that’s a backup is only one injury away.
