Most from North yes. They use to have a few Shanley girls as well but I believe they play for Davies now? Could be wrong.

The worst possible thing is to have a marginally talented kid.. super easy to be suckered into "needing" to keep up the camps, teams, tourneys and "IT,s a SHOWCASE WE HAVE TO GO AAAAAAA scouts and coaches will be there AHHHHHHHHHGG!!!!"

So power skating and shooting etc. camps won't help improve a marginally talented player.

I guess music lessons or football practice won't help those kids that enjoy those activities get better.

As for AAA hockey, ND isn't smart enough to have that as a resource for the better players. The better kids wouldn't have to leave home to get the better competition.  I know a few kids make it  to the higher levels by just playing high school hockey but your kidding yourself if you think ND high school hockey is anywhere close to the quality of play as AAA.

Alot to unpack there but

1)Nobody said ND high school hockey was anywhere close to  AAA... but AAA isn't a certification, it's just a label. And anyone can pay to play with that label somewhere.

A ton of shady people and organizations out there just label crap "AAA" and take people's money by suckering them into thinking it's the only way for their special little 2.3 ppg squirt 2 all-star clam nugget to make the next level.  Good lord .. good example is anything produced in the "North land"... :"AAA" Mello yello explosion touney... ... more like low level B hockey coached by complete tools that never played a day of organized hockey. Just a label, just someone cashing checks... but hey get to keep the jersey right!?

2) No, all the money, camps and special skating coaches in the world won't change the outcome for 99% of kids in hockey. So many examples to illustrate this.

Just ask Mastercard.

3) And will ALWAYS call out the hypocrisy of a: 

"ND based AAA so kids don't have to leave home"

There is no possible full time ND based AAA/Tier 1 for ND players,

There's selfishly wanting a Fargo based program so Fargo kids don't have to leave home or a GF based program so GF kids don't have to leave home or a Bismarck based.... etc..

The reality is not any of those places could produce a full team per year class to be a competitive "AAA" program without bringing in multiple players from outside ... which isnt "staying home".

And the market for bringing together the ones that can and want to play at that level together in the fall and spring is, not without its faults, but covered and producing respectable results.

Aka, most of it is out of your control no matter how much you spend and push for it.

I could write a book about youth hockey but will just say that the other sports have caught up to and surpassed hockey in terms of cost and travel.  Travel (USSSA) baseball, AAU basketball, volleyball, gymnastics, travel soccer, etc., etc.  It's pay-to-play for anything these days and hockey shouldn't have to apologize anymore.  My local youth hockey association is cheaper than playing travel baseball or travel basketball.  My daughter is in gymnastics.  Yeah, that ain't cheap either.

The cheapest and purest sport left is football.  Start in Jr High/High School.  School provides all the training, equipment, etc.  Great athletes can still excel and play at the highest levels.

8 boys games tonight.  Most interesting matchups to me will be Mandan/CHS and WF/Davies.  

3 girls games tonight.  Jamestown and WFU should be a good battle.  Will see if GF tendy can keep them in the game with North.

WF seems to be catching their footing now that Mattern is gaining momentum. I'll guess WF over Davies tonight. And ill guess CHS over Mandan in a close one. 

FN vs WFS could be a decent one too but I'm guessing FN has the upper hand there? Same for DL vs Minot. Minot should win and probably will win, but this is the type of game DL's goalie could help them steal if he gets hot.
