Western is Denvering Denver, in their face all of the time, forcing Denver to defend and block shots.  Usually it is Denver wearing down the opposing team in the offensive end.  If a less talented team can do that, why can’t a team with more talent?   It comes down to will and culture.

Most guys who are more talented don't want to play physical "football mentality" brand of hockey. Everybody seems to be more of a skilled star growing up through minor hockey and then HS or junior. Ferschweiler has instilled some sort of mentality/culture/identity that has gotten a lot of JAGs to play inspired. Good for Western Michigan

If you’re implying that North Dakota’s squad was more talented than WMU’s this season…oof.

Yeah that forward split is probably 8 and 4 or 9 and 3 and the dman split is 4 and 2 at best. Goalie split would be 2 and 0

Other than Bump, players that have produced a lot better in junior hockey and have been drafted.  Not saying they have played more talented. Just like the saying goes hard work beats talent when talent doesn’t work hard.  Guys like Nehring and Slukynsky sure work hard.

Gotta give a ton of credit to Ferschweiler for recruiting some damn good players and turning nobodies into dudes.

Slukynsky brothers were about to go to Northern Michigan and Bump was at Vermont before both programs lost their coaches, Ferschweiler comes off the top rope & steals em last minute. Helluva job

Bump with the winner....who saw that coming?

That is shocking.
Shocking, I tell you.

Will be cheering for WMU and Maine the rest of the way...and then I hope Bump signs the day after the title game and UND never sees him again.

Your grading scale appears to be “potential.”  Mine is “results.”  After 5 games of head to head competition, it’s painfully obvious to me who the better team was - and the gap wasn’t close.
